    Arizona Cardinals....sleeping giant???

The three QB's in this draft....Leinhart, Young, and Cutler, are going to go early. Arizona is picking ONE spot ahead of the Rams. Remember when we drafted Kennedy? Who was in front of the Rams that year? Seattle. Who did Seattle take? Trufant. Trufant played excellent against the Rams and I have a feeling that song is going to play again. With Arizona picking ahead of the Rams, with Edge at RB and a stable of WR's that would make Bob Baffert jealous, when they take one of these three....whichever one.....they are my pick for supremcy in the NFC West for a long time.

Games are won and lost in the trenches.

    -- NFL Cliche

The Cardinals are weak in the trenches (especially on offense).

    -- Observation

The Cardinals will not rule the West.

    -- Conclusion

If Az goes from 5-11 to the class of the NFC West in one year, I'm not going to bet on any team reigning supreme for years to come. I do think they're putting together a strong team out there, though.

They have the most weapons in the NFC West right now. Defensively, the Rams didn't light up the scoreboard against them last year. So, maybe the defensive trenches are fine. Don't fool yourself AV, they aren't that far off.

'zona may be the rams of the mid 90's...very talented but not clicking on all cylinders...

let's hope they don't find their magic mojo any time soon...

    Re: Arizona Cardinals....sleeping giant???

    2005 Cardinals Stats:

3.2 yards per rush (Rams were 4.0)

Edge alone won't fix this. He's not the kind of back who is going to do well behind a weak line, particularly at his age.

37 team sacks (Rams had 41)

What have they done to improve in this area?

Its easy to get wide-eyed about their strength in the skill position areas, but they still have some big holes on their O line and their D line is just average. Not exactly a formula for major success.

Throw stats and all that stuff as much as you want, they can build the O line through FA very easily. They aren't that far off and if you think they are you are fooling yourself.

I said this last year and I was way off, but If they get any upgrades on the o-line, Warner is gonna have a field day-year. They don't need Any of the big three to get this team in the hunt! Warner reads the d's better then any QB around and that being said ........... Is all I got to say about that.............I think.

You are right, they don't need any of the three THIS year, but Warner doesn't have many years left. That WR corp is VERY young. If they get any of the three QB's they are going to be tough as nails for years.

And you are right TX, But I think they need to address Both Lines first and then next year get a quality QB. That's my thouhgt.

I heard all of these arguments last year, and I made exactly the same counterarguments. The only difference now is Edge. If you think he's going to spark a rise from 5-11 to powerhouse, fine. I respectfully disagree.

    Re: Arizona Cardinals....sleeping giant???

That is all true just like I said I said last year and I was way off, But if the Cards work on the lines in question , then I think they have a chance and a very good one. I do believe they had the most yards on offense last year and Egde will bring that total up. How often did Warner hit Faulk out of the back field? I think that is very likely. But then again I love disagreeing with you AV. It's just plain fun.LOL

Despite numerous injuries last year, they were 8th in the NFL in total offense and 8th in total defense. If they stay healthy, their potential concerns me.

They led the league in passing? I know they led something so that in itself should pose a threat and the fact the injuries kept them at bay is a really good point!
