Av's 2014 Rams Draft Board (Top 20 Prospects), Version 1.0

Here is my current list of the top 20 prospects for the Rams. Due to my view of the Rams' current needs, you won't find any QBs, RBs, TEs, DEs or LBs on this list. As there are several players at those positions that will be taken in the first round, some of the players on this list could be available when the Rams select in Round 2 (which could mean that the Rams might have a shot at three of these players).

So, here is my pre-bowl games Version 1.0 Rams Draft Board:

    1. Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
    2. Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
    3. Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson
    4. Louis Nix, DT, Notre Dame
    5. Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M
    6. Cameron Erving, OT, Florida State
    7. Cyrus Kouandjio, OT, Alabama
    8. Hasean Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama
    9. Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State
    10. Louichiez Purifoy, CB, Florida
    11. RaShede Hagerman, DT, Minnesota
    12. Justin Gibert, CB, Oklahoma State
    13. Cyril Richardson, OG, Baylor
    14. Davante Adams, WR, Fresno State
    15. Marquise Lee, WR, USC
    16. Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, CB, Oregon
    17. Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
    18. David Yankey, OG, Stanford
    19. Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt
    20. Travis Swanson, C, Arkansas

I have to say we are on the same page this year. Like this list a lot.

Its a good list, and agree with most of it.

Only thing i would change personally if it was my own Big Board would be the CB ranking.

My CB's atm go like this:

    Dennard
    Verrett
    Gilbert
    Ekpre-Olomu
    Purifoy
    Fuller

But not much of a difference, just personal preference. Still a really good list.

My understanding from your list is that if the Rams wind up with the #2 pick it will be traded. I tend to agree with that. But if we don't, then none of these players right now (pre Combine) represents good value at the #2 spot. Mathews comes close.

I think you did a very good job with the list, but if we go with the BPA then other than a QB how can you overlook Clowney, Barr and Mosely. Maybe I'm just not reading your intent correctly.

    Go Rams!

I'm not really projecting trades at this time. I do think that, in the event that the Rams end up with a Top 5 pick, they will definitely explore trade options. However, if they don't find a suitable trade partner, I think Matthews would be a good pick at No. 2.

Its not BPA apart from QB. For me, its BPA apart from QB, RB, TE, DE and LB (as I don't think the Rams need to draft any of those positions in the first round).

I have the top 5-6 CBs ranked pretty closely at this point. I generally prefer guys who are built to match up with some of the bigger receivers.

until proven otherwise my main red flag with clowney is that not only has everyone clamored over him and all they show is that one hit blowing up a michigan RB without being blocked

but my main concern is that he doesn't appear to have a real work ethic, how can you come into a season out of shape and basically take the year off trying not to get hurt?...weak

Given that he's not on my board, I'm not sure why this is relevant.

Love your list AvR, watched some of these guys this year and they are talented only seen one Baylor game how do you like Cyril R. the guard? where do you project him going? God knows we could probably use a good guard at least to groom for the future/injury or to replace Roger & or Dahl if they go etc. Would be very happy if we land 3 of these choices you laid out!

Good looking list! I have one more to suggest, and that's Greg Robinson, OT from Auburn (if he declares).

On personal preference, I would lower Lewan, Evans, and Purifoy, and bump up Dennard, Hagerman, and Matthews, but that's just me. Lewan could be mostly Michigan hatred, but I just don't like that guy at all.

I'll keep an eye on him in the National Championship Game. If he can keep FSU's defense at bay, I may just take your advice.

I'm sure my order will shift as well.

Hmmm I'm not sure why, but I have absolutely no problems with Matthews being #1 on that list.
