Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft

Round 1 (1): Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
This choice will be overanalyzed to death in the coming months, but to me its a simple one. Suh is the best player in the draft. That's who the Rams should take.

Round 2 (33): Demaryius Thomas, WR, Georgia Tech
Thomas is built like Anquan Boldin, and could be a similar type player. The numbers he put up at GaTech (over 1,000 yards and over 24 yards per catch) are amazing considering the type of offense the Yellowjackets run.
Round 3 (65): Dan LeFevour, QB, Central Michigan
I was on the fence regarding LeFevour until I saw him play in the GMAC Bowl. He has all the tools and the intangible qualities to be a future NFL starter.

Round 4 (97): Sam Young, OT, Notre Dame
Meet our new RT. Young has very good size and played in a true Pro-style offense. I don't think he's a future LT prospect, but he is the type of guy who could step in and play as a rookie.
Round 5 (129): Montario Hardesty, RB, Tennessee
Is this wishful thinking? With several Junior RBs declaring, maybe not. If Hardesty is still on the board at this point in the draft, the Rams should snatch him up. Steven Jackson's back will thank them for it.

Round 5 (152): Brandon Sharpe, DE/OLB, Texas Tech
What position would Sharpe, who has 3-4 defense written all over him, play? Pass rusher. DE or OLB? Pass rusher. That's his job, and he'll do it well.
Round 6 (161): Perry Riley, OLB, LSU
The late rounds are a good time to address LB depth. Riley would compete for a role among the Rams no-name OLBs.

Round 7 (193): Reed Williams, MLB, West Virginia
When you look at a guy like Williams, you wish he was just a bit taller, just a bit bigger. He's not a likely starter, but he's a football player who could help on special teams and in spot duty behind James Laurinaitis.

Round 7 (211): Jarvis Geathers, OLB, Central Florida
Another pass rush specialist/special teams prospect.Last edited by AvengerRam; -01-13-2010 at 02:44 PM.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
Interesting mock. Last I heard, however, we have two picks in the 7th round; ours and the one we got from Atlanta in the Tye Hill trade.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
Av, this is a great mock and is plausible. Although I really like McCoy, getting Thomas and picking up LeFevour in the 3rd alone would make this an A+ draft in my book. And the "experts" will also love it lol

Always and Forever a fan of the St. Louis Rams

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
Good work Av. I really like this mock, and I hope the Rams draft turns into something like this.
Do you think Kyle Calloway or Ciron Black will be taken before our pick in the 4th round or do you believe Sam Young is a better right tackle prospect?

I really like it, Av.
If this is how the draft plays out, who starts opposite Chris Long at DE next year?

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
Black is probably a Round 2 or 3 guy. Calloway could fall to the top of Round 4, but probably will be gone in Round 3. I'd rank all three fairly close at this point. After the Combine, I'll have a stronger feeling about ranking them.
With Suh on board, I think the Rams can afford fill the spot with a mid-level FA. I like the idea of signing Darryl Tapp away from the Seahawks.

Honestly its very very good!
But i dont like the 2nd round pick. I think we have many young receivers that have the potential to be starters. If we get a receiver it should be a veteran.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
WRs present a bit of a Catch-22. Rookies rarely make a big splash. FAs are typically overpriced (and, in many cases, on the downside of their careers by the time they hit the market).
What I like about Thomas is he is nothing like any receiver on the Rams' roster. He is 6'3, 230. I like his potential to create matchup problems.

I really like the mock Av, I'd be very optimistic if we came away with these players.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
Good mock. One question though. So you believe Thomas would be the best WR in Round 2, and be better than any other TE prospects?

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
While most would probably disagree with this statement, I have Thomas ranked as the second best WR in the draft behind Dez Bryant.
Watching GaTech play this year, it amazed me that any WR could distinguish himself in that offense. Its really a throwback option offense that reminds me of the old days of the Big 10. As a team, the Yellowjackets completed only 78 passes for 1,774 yards and 11 TDs this year. Of that total, Thomas was responsible for 46 receptions, 1,154 yards and 8 TDs. So, not only were his numbers impressive on their own, he achieved them in an offense in which he was the only real receiving threat (no other player on the team had more than 8 receptions).

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
Overall, a very good mock. I'm not sure there's a single pick in there that I'd be broken up about, and I think you've valued everyone rather appropriately. Nice work, Av!

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
I have a major problem with this mock. It's simply too good. I'd be foolish to continue reading any others at this point. And that leaves an awful lot of time until the draft to do nothing but hope for what you have right hear. And considering my lack of imagination, I may now have to tune out, go into a sports coma, or play some Strat to occupy my time.
Super! Just fantastic! I really hope your proud of yourself!Semper Fi
