Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
Good mock...the only pick I disagree with is Sam Young. As a former top recruit, he has been a complete bust for Notre Dame first on the left side and then the right side. He's been one of the reasons Clausen had been under as much duress as he was this past season and I don't see Young getting touched until at least the sixth round. Just throw in another OT with that selection and this is a very good draft.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
Man, FO is crying for you!
No comment for Rd 1, because no need for any, but I also watched GMAC and some other games of CMU and Le Fevour looks like somebody who can develop in No1 QB. I would rather have him than Snead or Pike or McCoy (in second round, since he won't last any longer). The best pick is Damaryius Thomas and I am glad somebody else thinks like me. Despite of some opinions that he benefited from play actions and single coverage (because teams opposite Tech always put as many players as they can in box), it was real miracle how he could do anything with Nesbitt at quarterback. He's no QB at all, just a guy who fills in for it. For further rounds I wouldn't know. Who knows who'll be on board till' then, but what do you think about Antonio Coleman from Auburn. He's intriguing player and you can find him, on mocks, all over from 1st to 7th round?

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
There's no question that Young disappointed some by not emerging as a top notch LT prospect. As you noted, he was a top recruit from one of the best High School programs in Florida (St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale - a High School that, incidentally, used to kick the crap out of my High School when I was there 25 years ago). He proved to be limited in terms of footspeed and agility and, as a result, started at RT in his final two years.
That stated, I think calling him a "bust" at Notre Dame is a bit unfair. He was a four year starter, and on the Outland Trophy "watch list" at the start of his Senior season. What he lacks in agility, he makes up for with massive size (6'8, 330) and strength.
As a RT prospect, I think he is definitely worth a 4th round pick. He might not have a ton of upside, and probably won't ever play LT, but he could be a guy who starts at RT as a rookie and effectively mans that spot for years.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
Coleman could be a good fit as a pass rush specialist, much like Sharpe and Geathers. He's a classic tweener, so he'll probably be a late round selection unless he really blows the doors off the Combine.
Another pass rusher I really like is O'Brien Schofield from Wisconsin, but I suspect he'll be gone in the 3rd round.Last edited by AvengerRam; -01-14-2010 at 11:04 AM.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
Great mock AV! I haven't got an argument with anyone and I'm glad you agree on LeFevour. I've like him for us for a while, based on what else is available in this draft.
I'd like to know if you agree with me that that pick may increase the need for Spags to add a dedicated QB coach to his staff. I've mentioned it in other threads discussing the QB of the future. I know Jim Zorn has the mediocrity of Jason Campbell on his resume, but he might add something to the equation. I'm just not convinced Richard Curl is the solution to developing a franchise QB.
Your thoughts?
Go Rams!

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
I can't say I know enough about Curl to really render an opinion on him. Certainly, having a good QB coach is helpful to a young QB. But, don't forget, Pat Shurmur was a QB coach with the Eagles before he came to the Rams.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
Good point. If Shurmur can devote time to developing a QB then I'm all for it. I just believe for a QB to go from good to great there needs to be a sideline coach who teaches and can make that happen.
Thanks and great mock once again.
Go Rams!

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
Very good mock and I really like Thomas in the second. I think he has all the tools to be a star at wide receiver.
I agree with you completely on LeFevour. He has adequate arm strength and is very accurate with his passes. Could be a steal.
Hardesty could be a good backup. He's a hard worker and a very hard runner. I would like to see someone with more speed added to be more of a change of pace to Jackson though. The Roman and The Prince. Playmakers until the end.

I like Lefevour, I think he'd be a good fit, but how is his character?

I think this is a pretty good indication:

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan quarterback Dan LeFevour has been named to the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award All-Senior All-America Team.
The All-America teams were announced Friday night in conjunction with the presentation of the 2009 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. Florida quarterback Tim Tebow was named the recipient of the Senior CLASS Award.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. The award identifies personal qualities that define a complete student-athlete, with criteria including excellence in the classroom, outstanding character and community service in addition to competition on the field.
Dan LeFevour and Tebow were joined on the All-Senior All-America first team by Missouri offensive lineman Kurtis Gregory, TCU defensive end Jerry Hughes and Texas quarterback Colt McCoy.
Second team honorees were Utah offensive lineman Zane Beadles, Boise State fullback Richie Brockel, Minnesota wide receiver Eric Decker, Michigan punter Zoltan Mesko and Kansas safety Darrell Stuckey.
The Lowe's Senior CLASS All-America accolade is the latest honor for LeFevour, who already has been named the Mid-American Conference's Vern Smith Leadership Award winner, the MAC Offensive Player of the Year, All-MAC first team and the MAC Championship Game Offensive Player of the Game in 2009.
LeFevour, who earned his bachelor's degree in December, maintained a 3.57 GPA as an interpersonal communication major. He was a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV second team selection this season. The two-year team captain was nominated for the 2009 American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team based on his community service efforts.
LeFevour will lead No. 25 Central Michigan (11-2 overall) into the GMAC Bowl against Troy (9-3 overall) on Wednesday, Jan. 6. Both teams are their respective conference's outright champions. ESPN will televise the matchup at 6 p.m. Central Standard Time.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
If we could pull this off, I'd love it. We address three huge needs in the first two rounds. Can't go wrong with that.
Good job Av, keep up the good work. I will assume there will be many modifications in the next few months.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
Oh wow. What was I thinking?! I wrote three needs in two rounds! haha Too much late night birthday fun.
Anyways, Av, what makes you believe that a wide receiver is a need? I'm pretty comfortable with Brandon Gibson, Keenan Burton, Avery and Robinson.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
