Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
There isn't one wide receiver on our roster that forces a double team right now. Avery isn't a playmaker or hasn't shown he's a consistent playmaker week in and out. He can't stay healthy for whatever reason and the rest (other than Gibson) are a poor man's Ricky Proehl. I think WR is definately a big factor on this team.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
Robinson and Burton are coming off injuries. Gibson has promise, but needs to develop. Avery has potential, but also had a disappointing season.
That stated, I didn't take a WR in Round 2 becase I think its the Rams second most pressing need. Rather, I took a WR in Round 2 because I think Demaryius Thomas is a Top 20 value who could be there at pick #33.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
I like Demaryius Thomas. But I'm not sold on him for the 2nd round. I read a little about him. He's big and he was only playing one on one. So idk what he'll be like when he's in heavy coverage.
I'm just wondering if we could do better. There will be guys who will slip out of the first round. What about a versatile RB who can catch and run? Jahvid Best from Cal? He's tough, he can catch, and he can keep Jackson fresh all game. After Jackson's compressed discs, i dnt want to see him get seriously hurt. And Best would give us so many options...
Almost all the teams that will be picking at the end of the first have 1 or 2 outstanding RB's. It's plausible.Last edited by The Optimistic Lamb; -01-15-2010 at 05:09 PM.

I think you're getting your concepts mixed up here. He was the sole WR in many formations, but that does not mean he was single covered.
Best could be a good value at that point in the draft. However, I don't think I'd take a RB that high in the draft.I'm just wondering if we could do better. Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
Normally I wouldn't either unless it serves more than one purpose. Best seems to excel at both running and catching.
I just think a multi talented RB would keep our power back healthy, keep him fresh, and provide another element in the passing game.
Unless Demaryius Thomas is definitely a #1 receiver, it seems we have enough back-ups at that position.Last edited by The Optimistic Lamb; -01-17-2010 at 04:09 AM.

AV? You need to be in the Rams War room in April. When I lived in NY I would always attend the draft for those days and loved it. You need to be there, i like the QB you picked. He has good nice and he is a very smart QB.

Agreed. I'd like either Dan or Riley Skinner out of Wake Forest.

I dont usually join the crowd, but well researched and thought out.
I think DeSpags will get it done this year, their eye for talent has given me alot of hope for this offseason.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
some have young around the 4th rd others have him earlier but i think dickson is a better pick if we dont get a te through fa, he is big 6'5 243 lbs and caught 124 passes for 1557 yds and 12 tds in his career with almost all the production coming in his last 3 yrs. te is a big need and if we dont get one through fa i think we should get dickson

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock Draft
Interesting note from the Senior Bowl: Young weighed in at only 305, which could be a bit light for a guy as tall as he is (almost 6'8). I'm very interested to hear reports on his performance. If concerns are raised about his strength or leverage, he might drop out of my next mock. On the other hand, if its just a case of a player who is in good shape and does not carry around a lot of body fat for an OT (i.e. Jason Smith), I'll be less concerned.
