Av's Blockbuster 3-Team Trade Proposal
Wearing my amateur GM hat, I've come up with the following trade idea involving the Rams, Jaguars and Redskins. I've included the trade value chart values for reference.
Here it is:
St. Louis Rams
Send 2009 First Round Pick (#2) to Redskins [TVC 2,600]
Send 2009 Third Round Pick (#66) to Jaguars [TVC 260]
Washington Redskins
Send 2009 First Round Pick (#13) to Rams [TVC 1,150]
Send 2010 First Round Pick to Jaguars [Estimated TVC 1,000]
Send 2009 Third Round Pick (#80) to Jaguars [TVC 190]
Jacksonville Jaguars
Send 2009 First Round Pick (#8) to Rams [TVC 1,400]
Send 2009 Fourth Round Pick (#107) to Rams [TVC 80]
Here's how the total trade value chart numbers look:
Rams: 2,860 (out)/2,630 (in)
Jaguars 1,480 (out)/1,450 (in)
Redskins: 2,340 (out)/2,600 (in)
Why this makes sense for the Rams:
The TVC says the Rams are the losers in this deal, but I think they come out ahead. They avoid the big contract that he No. 2 pick would command, and still have the 8th pick (giving them an outside shot at Monroe or Curry, and an almost certain chance at getting Maclin, Oher, Crabtree or A.Smith), and 13th pick (which could be used for Maualuga, Jackson or several other quality prospects). They retain the 35th pick, and get an extra 4th rounder that could be used on a developmental QB.
Why this makes sense for the Redskins:
The obvious premise of this deal is that the Redskins really want Sanchez, and conclude that the only safe way to get him is to move to pick #2. They give up a lot of picks in the end, but if Sanchez proves to be the franchise QB they think he is, they'll consider it a win.
Why this makes sense for the Jaguars:
The Jags get quantity (2 extra third round picks) and future considerations (Skins 2010 First Round pick) in exchange for their No. 8 selection and a 4th pick. This could be a good move financially, and allow them to stockpile players over the net two years.
So there you have it!
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Av's Blockbuster 3-Team Trade Proposal
Oher (8), Maualuga (13) and Nicks (35) wouldn't be too bad.
As for the Jaguars, who knows? They'd have a second round and 3 third round picks to play with this year, and an extra first round pick to look forward to next year.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Av's Blockbuster 3-Team Trade Proposal
With the jags losing the First this year, I think they would want to come out the winners in the 'traditional TVC' sense (totals).
If it were sweetened enough for them, you never know. Having said that, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Hey Av.
Why don't you e-mail that idea to all 3 teams. I would love to see it happen. Until there is a rookie salarey cap having a low draft pick is a curse not a bennefit.

Creative for sure, but jacksonville already has issues selling tickets. I dont see how trading out of the first round this year helps them with their fans.

Re: Av's Blockbuster 3-Team Trade Proposal
The Jaguars are only a couple of years removed from being a very good team. They have a lot of gaps left by the departure of veterans and high draft choice busts. I think the idea of having two extra threes and a future first round pick could be enticing.
Don't get me wrong - I'd be shocked if this actually happened. I just think it makes sense.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Av's Blockbuster 3-Team Trade Proposal
I'd be amazed if this happens too, but for all of those who are concerned about the Jags not going for it because of not having a 1st rounder, what about just switching our getting #13 with getting the Skins 2010 1st rounder? Lord knows we don't need the extra pick this year, as we probably won't be competing, but I'll certainly take a likely mid 1st rounder next year when we might pick up a very good QB of the future(and I'd actually be ok with that!)

Oh, and I would be absolutely amazed and very much in favor of this if it could happen. Amazing job Av!
