Av's FINAL Rams 7 Round/First 33 Picks Mock Drafts
Round 1: Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma

At this point, its hard to dispute that the first pick is Bradford's to lose. I've watched a lot of highlight films, and I like what I see. If the Rams feel the same when they look at his medical report and workouts, I think they will pull the trigger and take the player that they hope will start at QB for the next ten years.
Round 2: Jahvid Best, RB, California

I think the Rams and Best need each other. The Rams need a No. 2 back who can take the pressure off Steven Jackson, break big runs, and be groomed to be the No. 1 back in a few years when Jackson slows down. Best needs a team that won't make him carry the ball 25 times per game as a rookie. Its a match.
Round 3: Alex Carrington, DE, Arkansas State

Carrington is Spags' kind of DL. He can play DE in a base 4-3, and slide inside as a pass rusher as well. His stock went up at the Senior Bowl, where he was viewed as one of the best defenders on either squad. I think he's a good value at this spot.
Round 4: Marshall Newhouse, OT, TCU

Newhouse has good size (326 lbs.) and athleticism. He was a LT in college, but fits better as a RT in the pros. With Alex Barron's time running short with the Rams, Newhouse could be a future starter.
Round 5: Perry Riley, OLB, LSU

The Rams need to add some young LB talent. Riley has nice size and good speed. He could compete for the starting spot at WLB.
Round 5: Marcus Easley, WR, Connecticut

Big (6'3, 210) and fast (4.46). He had a breakout season at UConn last year. If he makes the team, though, he'll have to pick another jersey number.
Round 6: Brandon Sharpe, OLB/DE, Texas Tech

An under-the-radar selection, Sharpe is a pure pass rushing specialist. The Rams could use a guy like him.
Round 7: Reed Williams, MLB, West Virginia

Williams does not project as a starter, but he could be the Rams' version of a guy like Larry Izzo while backing up James Laurinaitis.
Round 7: Jarvis Geathers, OLB/DE, UCF

Another guy for special teams and the pass rush rotation.
Round 7: Patrick Stoudamire, CB, Western Illinois

Local kid can provide depth in the defensive backfield and on special teams. Good size (5'10, 205)/speed (4.45) combo.
And...
Here is my First Round (+1) Mock:
1. St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
2. Detroit Lions: Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
4. Washington Redskins: Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State
5. Kansas City Chiefs: Eric Berry, S, Tennessee
6. Seattle Seahawks: Brian Bulaga, OT, Iowa
7. Cleveland Browns: Joe Haden, CB, Florida
8. Oakland Raiders: Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, South Florida
9. Buffalo Bills: Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee
10. Jacksonville Jaguars: Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech
11. Denver Broncos: Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama
12. Miami Dolphins: Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State
13. San Francisco Niners: Mike Iupati, OG, Idaho
14. Seattle Seahawks: C.J. Spiller, RB, Clemson
15. New York Giants: Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State
16. Tennessee Titans: Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri
17. San Francisco Niners: Jared Odrick, DE/DT, Penn State
18. Pittsburgh Steelers: Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma
19. Atlanta Falcons: Everson Griffen, DE, USC
20. Houston Texans: Earl Thomas, S, Texas
21. Cincinnati Bengals: Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma
22. New England Patriots: Brandon Graham, OLB, Michigan
23. Green Bay Packers: Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers
24. Philadelphia Eagles: Taylor Mays, S, USC
25. Baltimore Ravens: Sergio Kindle, OLB, Texas
26. Arizona Cardinals: Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame
27. Dallas Cowboys: Vladimir Ducasse, OT, Massachusetts
28. San Diego Chargers: Ryan Matthews, RB, Fresno State
29. New York Jets: Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame
30. Minnesota Vikings: Colt McCoy, QB, Texas
31. Indianapolis Colts: Charles Brown, OT, Texas
32. New Orleans Saints: Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida
33. St. Louis Rams: Jahvid Best, RB, CaliforniaLast edited by AvengerRam; -04-02-2010 at 07:08 PM.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock (Version 2.0)
not bad....2 things .
1. I would like to see a TE and/or CB in the mix.
2. I would rather go DE round 2 -- RB round 3.
Dont' you think the disparity btw round 2 and 3 rbs isn't as great as round 2 and 3 Dlinemane?
**especially for a RB2 that may only get 5 touches a game if he isn't used on special teams.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock (Version 2.0)
I think that after Spiller, Matthews and Best there is a pretty big dropoff at RB to the next group (Dwyer, Gerhart, Tate). Best may not get more than 5-10 carries as a rookie when Jackson's healthy, but if Jackson were to need a week off for a minor injury, Best could step in and keep the offense going.
As far as DL goes, I think there's going to be a run in the first round that will leave few, if any, players worthy of consideration at pick #33.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock (Version 2.0)
pretty good mock..the only real hole i see left if we made those picks would be TE..tho all the picks seem to be good prospects and the type we need..would be confident of us actually making the opposing QB`s rush their throws or get sacked with those fine pass rushing prospects added to an ever growing Long.
does today`s re-signing of Hall make you want to change any of those pass rushing prospect picks for a pick at another position..maybe a TE or FS?

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock (Version 2.0)
If he were still there in Round 6, I might consider Clay Harbor of Missouri State.
I get the need for a TE, but I just don't see using a high draft choice on one, unless the Rams really fall in love with Germaine Gresham and decide to take him in Round 2.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock (Version 2.0)
This is pretty much exactly how I'd like to see our first four rounds play out in terms of addressing our biggest needs as of right now. I really like it.
It's going to be largely impossible for us to fill all of our needs in one draft and I can understand why you left out a Tight End. If there are better options available to us in rounds 4 onward (I'm not going to dispute the first three rounds, I'd love to see all three selections materialize) then I can definitely see us passing on a TE altogether. I also see less of a need for a CB now that Dockery has been signed.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock (Version 2.0)
i feel better about this TE class coming out i guess..tho i should add that i thought Klop was gonna be a beast for us,so my judgement of TE prospects coming out is a touch spotty to say the least...
i have had a good run of predicting which QB`s will or wont make it in recent years tho..and for what that is worth ,i think Sam will be a good one.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock (Version 2.0)
Avenger,
Your comment on the Jahvid Best selection included the following, "Best needs a team that won't make him carry the ball 25 times per game as a rookie."
1.) What do you mean by this statement?
2.) Are you taking into consideration Best's history of concussions as a reason to limit his carries as a rookie?
WHAT SAY YE?

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock (Version 2.0)
Best is not what you would call a "big back" and he is coming off a year in which he missed some time due to injuries. I don't know that he (or most rookie RBs, for that matter) can come in and be a guy who carries the ball 20-25 times per game. If he were taken by a team without a No. 1 back, he might have to do that. On the Rams, he can be a role player (and an important one) for his first couple of years. As he gets a bit older and bulks up a little (as RBs tend to do), he could develop into an every down back.

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock (Version 2.0)
3 things that make Jahvid Best a questionmark
1. Doesn't move laterally well.
2. Runs with straight up (high) style
3. Consistent durablity issues

Re: Av's 7 Round Rams Mock (Version 2.0)
Another plus with Best is that he has experience as a kick returner. Given his speed, he could be a valuable contributer in that role as well.
As I noted above, one of the reasons I have the Rams taking a RB in Round 2 is that I think there will be a run on DL in Round 1. I see 5 DTs (Suh, G.McCoy, Williams, Price, Odrick) and 4 DEs (Morgan, Pierre-Paul, Griffen, Dunlap) being selected in Round 1. If any of those guys (with the possible exception of Dunlap, who I see as a potential underachiever) were to fall to Round 2, I'd consider taking a DL there and looking to fill the backup RB spot in Round 3 (Dwyer, Tate and Hardesty are all possibilities there).

biggest sleeper i think in this draft is Mike Williams syracuse...the kid has the athletism and hands of brandon marshall....his character could b an issue but the kid has kept himself busy ...his pro work out apparently great...

Okung is going to Detroit. Mark it down.
Don't be shocked if Gerald McCoy falls all the way to Buffalo.
