With most teams having so much money to spend this offseason, I think he will command more than that. The franchise number was over 8 million, and most teams didn't hesitate to offer that kind of money because of the importance of pass rushing in the game today.
I'm starting to like the idea of using the draft to pick up a defensive end or two, as opposed to overpaying a veteran free agent.

Robiare Smith, Defensive Tackle, 6'4" 328lbs, is expected to hit the Market. What about him?
Re: Av's Free Agent "Hot List" (Revised 2/20/07)
:l I think the Raven's Adalius Thomas would come with too hefty a price tag. Money that could be better spent to help other areas of our ailing defense. I think he would be a better fit for a 3-4 defense! Great talent , bad fit!

James Hall is currently under contract, so we might be able to nab him in a trade. But i agree, if he hits the FA market his price might skyrocket.

What do you think of Peter Sirmon, the Titans LB? i remember that the Rams had interest in him a little while ago.
Re: Av's Free Agent "Hot List" (Revised 2/20/07)
Why does everyone think we should trade for hall?? Did he demand a trade or somthing? I live in michigan and they just spoke about Detroit today and I haven't heard anything accept how pissed everyone is about the millen extension and that's why bly says TRADE ME NOW! I watched everygame and I don't see the greatness in hall, Good numbers last season I know but not for a career and not worth the attention he seems to be getting, As a RAM's fanatic I 'm tellin ya guys Great if he is a situational, back up type not much more

He's not that big. Titans' site has him listed at 314 lbs.
That said, he's been on my list for a while, and is currently my #8 rated FA prospect for the Rams. I think he'd be a very good addition to the Rams' DL rotation.

he would be a good veteran pick up, but i cant see us coming out of this draft without a DE on the first day, so he wouldnt be the sole player playing opposite Little
Re: Av's Free Agent "Hot List" (Revised 2/20/07)
O'Hara re-signed with the Giants, so we're down to my top 10.
Re: Av's Free Agent "Hot List" (Revised 2/20/07)
Steinbach signed a huge deal with Cleveland and can be taken off the list.
Re: Av's Free Agent "Hot List" (Revised 2/20/07)
*whistles*...huge is an understatement. Seeing as C Bentley won't be playing for them this year (again, more surgery) it's understandable. That will be a great interior tandem in a year or two (injury status depending).
Top 9...nerves...
Re: Av's Free Agent "Hot List" (Revised 2/20/07)
To update, Nate Clements, Michael Lewis, and Adalius Thomas are off the market as well.
