Av's Post Draft FA Wish List

Considering (1) the current roster, (2) the draftees, (3) my thoughts on where the Rams should be spending their FA dollars, and (4) the players currently slated for FA, here is a list of my FA targets:

    1. Barry Cofield, DT, N.Y. Giants
    2. Davin Joseph, OG, Tampa
    3. James Anderson, OLB, Carolina
    4. Manny Lawson, OLB, San Francisco
    5. Darren Sproles, RB, San Diego
    6. Justin Blalock, OG, Atlanta
    7. Brandon Mebane, DT, Seattle
    8. Rocky McIntosh, OLB, Washington
    9. Eric Weddle, S, San Diego
    10. Daniel Manning, S, Chicago
    11. Jerome Harrison, RB, Philadelphia
    12. Thomas Howard, OLB, Oakland
    13. Tim Hightower, RB, Arizona
    14. Chris Gocong, OLB, Philadelphia
    15. Jonathan Goodwin, OG, New Orleans

That would be a different list. There are some undrafted players I would love to take a shot at (Herzlich, M.Parker, Locke), but that really would not alter my FA strategy.

I only considered players who ARE free agents at this point.

However, if Bush were to become available, as most expect he will, I'd consider him as long as he's not looking for starter's money.

Once again, solid thinking here. Three maybe four key acquisitions there could be huge.

I think the two safeties weddle and manning should be much higher. Spags can easily plug up the OLB positions but we dont even have a starting quality safety and there are 2 safety positions. That is a HUGE need.

Also i understand Coefield would really help but can we afford to pay him top dollar comming to an already crowded D-Line rotation?

Darran Sproles should be taken off the list and replaced with Joseph Addai...with the way our draft went it appears we will not run the ball as much so we need a back up running-back that can block and catch the football (maybe ken darby is just wat the rams need) but if McD doesnt like darby addai is a guy who blocks well and catches the football well

Cofield would be a perfect fit, in my opinion. Nothing wrong with a 6-7 player deep DL rotation.

Ahh, I see makes sense. I feel like Bush would be the perfect RB for this system to complement SJ39. As funny as it seems, I think Bush would become the best receiver on our team immediately regardless of position

Another thing I like about Bush is his newfound disliking for Pete Carroll, after Pete threw him under the bus about the USC allegations. Also, we play new orleans next year so that could be a revenge game. Those are three games alone next regular season I am sure Reggie would have circled on his calendar.

Re: Av's Post Draft FA Wish List

Barry Cofield and Justin Blalock are musts (IMO). Depending on Bush's willingness to sign a scatback contract will decide his fate here and I'd also like to get Daniel Manning (assuming we're not going for either one of the two) but I have a feeling Spags has trust in our current players right now. It'd be possible to nab Eric Weddle but it'll probably cost a Duke's Ransom and some draft picks to get him (depending on how the CBA pans out).

James Anderson will be a nice choice to get at OLB (due to his familiarity with Flajole) and I'm one of the few sore thumbs around here but I'd also consider getting a backup QB to play it safe just in case Bradford's down, say Matt Moore. I can see him flourishing at least decently under McDaniels's system.

Nice list, but if the stay gets dropped we will revert to FA rules from last year and alot of those guys will not be available
In that case my list would be
    Barry Cofield, DT, Giants
    Chris Chester, OG, Ravens
Thomas Howard, WLB, Raiders or Rocky McCintosh, OLB, Redskins
    Ronnie Brown, RB, Dolphins

nice list Av. We would be well off in signing any of these players, I think. Realistically we may only have a shot at one or two, but that could make a tremendous difference.

Re: Av's Post Draft FA Wish List

    1. Barry Cofield, DT, N.Y. Giants - Would be a great acquisition.
    2. Davin Joseph, OG, Tampa - He's a very solid mauler and pass blocker.
    3. James Anderson, OLB, Carolina - Anderson is a beast.
    4. Manny Lawson, OLB, San Francisco - Would be good depth.
    5. Darren Sproles, RB, San Diego - Great compliment to Jackson, would give our offense some explosiveness.
    6. Justin Blalock, OG, Atlanta - Solid guard.
    7. Brandon Mebane, DT, Seattle - Good rotation DT. Has nice strength and awareness.
    8. Rocky McIntosh, OLB, Washington - Would be a starter.
    9. Eric Weddle, S, San Diego - Underrated.
    10. Daniel Manning, S, Chicago - Good depth.
    11. Jerome Harrison, RB, Philadelphia - Don't know anything about him.
    12. Thomas Howard, OLB, Oakland - Beast.
    13. Tim Hightower, RB, Arizona - Would like to have him. He's a good runner.
    14. Chris Gocong, OLB, Philadelphia - Good depth.
    15. Jonathan Goodwin, OG, New Orleans - Very very good guard.
