Linehan's arrival at Nebraska's pro day might suggest otherwise.

I think that Linehan wants to move Carriker to DT if we can get him, I see no other reason for him to be at the pro day unless it is a smoke screen.

As far as Carriker vs. Landry goes, I do agree that Carriker is incredibly talented. Though I am baffled by your personal love of his "workout warrior" numbers, h has put on a coule good performances so far. Beating Stewart Bradley, a lineback, in the 40 is impressive for a dude that big.

I guess my beef comes more with the fact that you only have Landry a 4.0 talent. Is there some reason you disagree with the so-called draft experts who have pegged him as one of the best safety prospects to come along?
You're right. Let me go fix that.

Carriker played in a 4-3 in college.

Re: Av's Rams Draft Board (Version 1.0)

in my non-expert opinion, college is different from the pros. i can't really see him playing defensive tackle for us and i don't think he'd be a good fit as a defensive end in our 4-3. although, i have heard rumours haslett is thinking of switching to a 3-4.. is there any truth behind this?

I revised the board based upon the signing of Chris Draft, which clearly lowers the priority level of OLB.

    Another slight adjustment...

After thinking about it more, I decided that the need rating for OLB should be 4.0 after the siging of Draft.

Also, because of his 40 time, I am now rating Willis as an OLB prospect, which makes him my #1 ranked LB.

I really don't understand how DE is a higher priority then DT. How can we possibly get better at run D when Jimmy Kennedy gets knocked off the ball 5yds on every snap? Not to mention the fact that we just got James Hall in a trade.

Re: Av's Rams Draft Board (Version 2.0)

I have DE and DT at the exact same need rating (4.5), so they are at the same priority level.

Yes, the Rams traded for James Hall, but you also have to factor in the potential that Claude Wroten may develop. The DE spot is important both with respect to run support and pass rush.

Re: Av's Rams Draft Board (Version 2.0)

Personally I would grade DT as the higher need simply because even if Wroten develops we still have nothing for the other spot (NT). Between Little, Hall, and Adeyanju, I think we're in better shape at DE.

That being said Av, I always like checking out your rankings. Developing a system to try and grade players based on both aspects equally is an interesting take on the concept of a big board.

Re: Av's Rams Draft Board (Version 3.0)

    Thanks, Nick.

I must confess, my logic for having DE and DT at the same "need" rating is somewhat convoluted. I do agree that the Rams have a slightly bigger and more immediate need for a DT based upon the players on the roster. However, I also think the Rams have a real need for an "impact player" on defense, regardless of position. Historically, DEs are more likely to be "impact players" as rookies than DTs are. So, for that reason, I have them equally rated.

I've just revised the board (Version 3.0) to add Justin Harrell, who I now see as a second-tier option for the Rams (i.e. someone who could be taken as a bit of a "reach" at pick #13, or could be a good target if the Rams want to trade down for additional picks). I've also dropped Jarvis Moss a bit, as I have concerns as to whether his pass rush ability is enough to offset his size (which I believe would make him a somewhat of a situational player).

Looks good to me. I have to admit I'm a little surprised you didn't put any of the cornerbacks on there, but I'd expect them to be near the bottom of the list anyway since I don't rate corner as nearly as high a need as DE and DT are.

Re: Av's Rams Draft Board (Version 3.0)

In the draft this year , I'd want a big DT , but the rumors around are that Kris Jenkins is coming to the rams for a 2nd round draft pick , but in the case that doesnt happens my top 3 rams picks for first round would be .....

    # 1 - Alan Branch - DT/Michigan
    # 2 - Okoye - DT / Louisville
    # 3 - Willis - LB / Ole Miss
