Av's Rams Draft Board (Version 2.0)

My initial draft board, which I compiled at the end of the college season, has changed quite a bit. Some players (i.e. Justin Blackmon) elected to stay in school, while others have dropped off my list due to Senior Bowl or Combine performances.

As always, this is the order I rank the prospects for the Rams. As a result, quarterbacks, centers, fullbacks, middle linebackers, kickers and punters need not apply!

    My current Top 15:

    1. Julio Jones, WR, Alabama
    Previous Rank: 4
That's right. I'm not afraid to say it. I am ranking Julio Jones ahead of A.J. Green. I'm certain I'm in the minority there, but I truly think that Jones is going blossom as a pro. Running a 4.39 with a broken foot doesn't hurt either.

    2. A.J. Green, WR, Georgia
    Previous Rank: 1
For those who still are in Green's corner, don't worry, I haven't abandoned him. He is a great prospect and I'd love to see him in a Rams uniform.

    3. Patrick Peterson, DB, LSU
    Previous Rank: 6
DB is pretty down on my "need" list, but Peterson, in my book, could be a special player. On the BPA side of the coin, he's my number 1 prospect in the draft. I think he'll have the impact comparable to the top DBs in the league.

    4. Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson
    Previous Rank: 2
I have him at the top of my list of DL prospects. He is, in my opinion, the top 4-3 pass rusher in the draft.

    5. Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M
    Previous Rank: N/A
The only hesitation with Miller is that his most obvious fit would be in a 3-4 scheme. Forget that. He has all the tools necessary to be a disruptive force in any scheme.

    6. Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn
    Previous Rank: 3
If an opening day DL of Hall, Fairley, Robbins and Long does not make you drool, have your saliva glands tested.

    7. Cameron Jordan, DE, California
    Previous Rank: N/A
Another player who some have pegged as a 3-4 guy, but that I see as a player who would fit in any scheme. In the Spags defense, think Justin Tuck.

    8. Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama
    Previous Rank: N/A
Dareus is a player who is rising in my mind. I can see him fitting in very well with the Rams.

    9. Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue
    Previous Rank: N/A
Kerrigan surprised many at the Combine. Some had presumed his great college productivity (37.5 sacks, 55.5 tackles for loss in four years) to a "great motor" (code for "marginal athlete"). Then he came in at 267 lbs, ran a 4.71, and had 31 reps on the bench. Guess this guy is an athlete too.

    10. Aldon Smith, DE, Missouri
    Previous Rank: N/A
Some prospects "just fit. Smith is one of them. I could see him being plugged in opposite Chris Long from day 1 (or, at least, rotating with James Hall, who can also rotate to DT) and producting right away.

    11. Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina
    Previous Rank: N/A
I have Quinn a bit lower than some. That should not be read as a major criticism, I just think the guys above him provide a slightly better package for the Rams.

    12. Justin Houston, OLB/DE, Georgia
    Previous Rank: N/A
Is it me, or does Houston strike you as potentially the second coming of Leonard Little?

    13. Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska
    Previous Rank: 8
Again, while I don't see CB as a major need area, I think Prince is too good a prospect to rank lower than this.

    14. Akeem Ayers, OLB, UCLA
    Previous Rank: N/A
I was very disappointed with his Combine 40 time (4.88), and wonder if he might need to be off this list entirely. We'll see how he does at his Pro Day.

    15. Stephen Paea, DT, Oregon State
    Previous Rank: N/A
You have to be impressed with his bench press feat, accomplished while recovering from a knee injury.

Dropped from list: Justin Blackmon, Adrian Clayborn, Allen Bailey, Cameron Heyward

    Hey Av
Now who do you think will most likely be there at 14?

I'd break it down as follows:

Doubtful: Green, Peterson, Bowers, Fairley, Dareus, Miller
Questionable: Jones, Jordan, Quinn, Amukamara, Smith
    Probable: Kerrigan, Houston, Ayers, Paea

Of the "probables," I'd take Kerrigan. To trade down, I'd want to receive a late first and an extra second round pick. Not sure anyone is going to give that much.

Re: Av's Rams Draft Board (Version 2.0)

Justin Tuck played LE and some DT, while Kiwi, Osi, and Dave Toffelson played RE. I don't doubt he can play in a 4-3 IMO he would be a great LE, but we already have Chris Long there

I like the additiion of Houston to the big board, I think Little is the perfect comparison for him even though he is a little bigger. He has bulked up hopefully that shows with his play against the run on the field. I could see him rotating with Hall and eventually starting

Re: Av's Rams Draft Board (Version 2.0)

After the recievers, Im hoping for Aldon Smith or Cameron Jordan to be taken if possible.? Ryan Kerrigan's production in college and his excellent combine numbers. 4.71 in the 40 at 267lb's is outstanding, plus 31 reps on the bench make him a legitimate option for Spags defense.
    GO RAMS
