Av's Top 10 "Boom or Bust" Prospects
Here are the players I think simultaneously have the most upside AND downside:
1. Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina
2. Dontari Poe, DT, Memphis
3. Janoris Jenkins, CB, Northern Alabama
4. Almeda Ta'amu, DT, Washington
5. Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma State
6. Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina
7. David Wilson, RB, Virginia Tech
8. Tommy Streeter, WR, Miami (FL)
9. Zebrie Sanders, OT, FSU
10. Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford

Re: Av's Top 10 "Boom or Bust" Prospects
Av, would you be able to provide your reasons as to why you think this?
I can understand a few of them, such as Jenkins and Coples, but don't know about the others

Re: Av's Top 10 "Boom or Bust" Prospects
Jeffery - can he sustain the right playing weight?
Poe - workout warrior?
Jenkins - off the field troubles.
Ta'amu - the dreaded "takes plays off" label.
Weeden - age and "system QB" critiques.
Coples - looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane?
Wilson - can he carry the full load?
Streeter - one year wonder?
Sanders - looks the part. Can he play that way?
Fleener - will he be out of Luck?
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Cool thanks! Hadn't heard anything in particular about some of them, such as Wilson, but I think they are all valid concerns.

Re: Av's Top 10 "Boom or Bust" Prospects
Stephen Hill, wr, georgia tech, should be #1 on that list in my opinion. All the physical talent in the world, combine warrior, all sorts of problems at the college level as articulated in my numerous posts on him.

Great thread, but I disagree about Wilson being on there. He's as steady as a back that you'd like, but I see you're concern. Like GC said, I'd replace Hill with Wilson.

Re: Av's Top 10 "Boom or Bust" Prospects
Tommy Streeter is a great boom or bust pick, because he has the physical tools to be great, but also is raw. Some team may take him in the late third to stash him for a few years

Re: Av's Top 10 "Boom or Bust" Prospects
I've seen his value all over the place, but fourth round is the most common. If he is available in the 6th, I'd snatch him in a heartbeat.

Re: Av's Top 10 "Boom or Bust" Prospects
I gotta agree with Wilson, great athlete, speed, agility, but I just don't see him as that threat to play each down or stay healthy all season. Great potential for 3rd down and long and mismatches with linebackers. Of course he could be a surprise and be the next Marshall Faulk?
