    Av's Top 10 Remaining Safeties

With the top 3 safeties on my board (Elam, Reid, Vaccaro) gone, here is my ranking of the remaining group:

    1. Jonathan Cyprien, Florida International (6'0, 217 lbs.)
Small school prospect, but was a Senior Bowl standout.

    2. Shamarko Thomas, Syracuse (5'9, 213)
Another short, but fast (4.42), guy for the Rams. A Bob Sanders clone.

    3. D.J. Swearinger, South Carolina (5'11, 208)
Not the fastest guy, but a big hitter who has decent cover skills).

    4. Phillip Thomas, Fresno State (6'0, 208)
Best ballhawk in the class. Has had significant injuries in the past.

    5. Baccari Rambo, Georgia (6'0, 211)
Has had some discipline issues, but is always around the ball (11 interceptions over past two years).

    6. J.J. Wilcox, Georgia Southern (6'0, 213)
Inexperienced, but supremely confident. Former wide receiver.

    7. Earl Wolff, North Carolina State (5'11, 209)
Underrated prospect. Good speed (4.44) and great in run support (119 tackles).

    8. T.J. McDonald, USC (6'2, 219)
Great size and bloodlines. Strong in the box. Not great in coverage.

    9. Shawn Williams, Georgia (6'0, 213)
Overshadowed by Rambo, but a strong prospect as well. Good speed (4.46).

    10. Duke Williams, Nevada (5'11, 190)
Built like a CB. Has a lot of experience and was productive and consistent in college.

Re: Av's Top 10 Remaining Safeties

Great list. Hard to quibble with at this point besides just personal preference. I would probably go...

    Cyprien
    P. Thomas
    Swearinger
    Wilcox
    S. Thomas
    Rambo
    Wolff
    D. Williams
    S. Williams
    McDonald

Good call on Wolff, though. Interested to see where he goes. Really, after the top five or six on my list, I feel like you could make a case for any of them. But I feel like I'm kind of locked in from Cyprien to Rambo.

Realistically I think we wont trade up into the second round so think one of these two guys will be joining our team. Think both would be impact players for us.
    4. Phillip Thomas, Fresno State (6'0, 208)
Best ballhawk in the class. Has had significant injuries in the past.

    5. Baccari Rambo, Georgia (6'0, 211)
Has had some discipline issues, but is always around the ball (11 interceptions over past two years).

Imagine with our pressure now with Ogletree our corners buttoning the ends of our defense and having one of these guys playing centerfield for us?

    I think my list goes:

    Jon Cyprien
    D.J Swearinger
    Phillip Thomas
    Shamarko Thomas
    Earl Wolff
    Bacarri Rambo
    JJ Wilcox

Though I do believe Cyprien and Swearinger will be gone.

If Shamarko is there when the Rams pick, I'll be stoked!

A bit surprised by McDonald, but he certainly has the one thing Shamarko Thomas lacks - size.

I won't be shocked if we see another safety in an hour or so.

One thing we can see is the USC connection. I love his size! Does this equal to mikell not coming back on a lesser contract?

Agreed, lots of good prospects still available. Wouldn't be shocked to see the Rams double dip with the other third rounder or even open the fourth with one.

Wilcox to Dallas, sad to see him off the board. Still plenty of options.
