Re: Av's "Top 35" Mock
Looks good except for a couple picks such as Clint Sintim. I was surprised you had him goin in the first round.

Re: Av's "Top 35" Mock
Sintim can go higher than AV projecte he can even go to the Patriots
I just dont agree with one particular projection: WHy would the redskins pass on Andre SMith?
As for the rest it is really good. I like eugene monroe just not sure if the rams will take Brace or a WR in the 2nd.

Re: Av's "Top 35" Mock
Solid draft; however, I feel that not drafting Curry will be a huge mistake. Tackles like Monroe come in every draft, and there not even SPECTACULAR must draft players such as Orlando Pace, Jake Long, Robert Gallery, ect. Are they fine players? Yes, but it's easier to find a player like Monroe, J. Smith, and Andre Smith in drafts than finding a spectacular linebacker in Aaron Curry in the draft.
Curry is a rare breed of inteligence, leadership, speed, power, strength and great character that makes it hard for me to choke on passing up on him. If you look at all the top defenses (Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Baltimore) they all have that one linebacker who disrupts everything.
Also, I feel in Round 2 that we can still pick up a good tackle, I do not think that we can find another Curry. It goes Curry, and then drops off to another level with Rey Maualuga and James L. from Ohio State.
Saying that...would I be mad at drafting Monroe over Curry? Not entirely, it'd be more sheer disapointment on knowing what we just passed up, and how Curry is going to tear the NFL up.RamsFan16

Re: Av's "Top 35" Mock
16, you are right, guys like Monroe do come in every draft. However, they go quick in the draft and if you think that the Rams can pick up a Monroe next year that means you think another 2-14 season is looming even with picking up Curry.

Re: Av's "Top 35" Mock
How can you justify that? Teams come into the draft with all different types of needs. Not every draft is there a Top 7 or 8 that has a Top need of tackle. And plus, as you've noticed this year. Other tackles emmerge knocking some of the (former) higher rated players down, thus ending up with a dropping player.
Who knows, we could go 7 - 9 and pick 12th or so, and still end up with a fine offensive lineman.
I mean, look at where we chose Barron and he was one of the, if not the top rated tackle on some peoples draft boards coming out.RamsFan16

Re: Av's "Top 35" Mock
Because top tackles don't usually slip that far that are the talent of Jason Smith and Eugene Monroe. I don't think Barron is as good as these two.
That's why.

Re: Av's "Top 35" Mock
Right now Barron isn't, but coming out he was rated pretty damn high. And whose to say that not getting a top tackle won't help our offensive line? We could pick up a tackle in Round 2 who could help out a lot.
I just feel that passing up a prospect like Aaron Curry is a HUGE mistake.RamsFan16

Re: Av's "Top 35" Mock
Could be....not saying that isn't either. However, I don't see a Round 2 OT starting but I do see a Round 2 MLB starting. Yes, Curry is special not saying he isn't. However, if this team dosen't get an OT to start day 1 this season no matter what style of offense the Rams run, Bulger is hurt.

Re: Av's "Top 35" Mock
Not neccessarely, if we're gonig to be more power running, than Bulger isn't going to hold on to the ball as much as he did prior seasons. One good thing is that we now have a blocking FB, and if Jackson can learn a few things from him, if we're in shotgun formation with 2 running backs, we can have Karney and Jackson out there, and bam, two more blockers.

Re: Av's "Top 35" Mock
Ok...I don't agree but I don't have to. You articulated your point well and I do see your point but I just don't see the execution.
We'll see though huh?

We will, and whatever happens. We're Rams fans, we're af amily, so if we pick an OT in R1 and pass on Curry, dont' rub it in

Re: Av's "Top 35" Mock
Barron may not have been a top flight prospect, but Jaamal Brown was an he has turned out to be a pretty good pro. 16, I'm with you. This team needs a playmaker in the front seven. I really could give a crap about wether or not he can play MLB (it would be great) wasn't K. Greene and outside LB? He was a heck of a player. BPA now, then and always. I think Curry is the BPA, didn't Denver pick up Clady @10? He was robbed not being selected for the pro bowl. Atleast that is what the Denver fans would lead you to believe. Personally, I thought we brought in Spags because of his defensive knowledge? I defer to him and his board, but wouldn't it be great to see the Lambs turn into RAMS on defense? The Rams have vested so much into creating a D that can win them games I say why stop short.
Just my uncalculated, biased, amature opinion.
Sorry Av for spinning off.Last edited by badmoforamfan; -03-26-2009 at 05:27 PM.

Re: Av's "Top 35" Mock
Just curious, but how many times in the last ten years has there not been at least one offensive tackle taken in the top 8 picks? I will be you that there have been more times that two offensive tackles are taken in the top 8 picks than none.
Lets discuss the success rate of top 5 picks switching positions. How many times has that happened in recent memory? How about top 5 picks who had broken bones at the time they were selected in the top 5 (for the crabtree folks)

Re: Av's "Top 35" Mock
A lot of original picks in this one, Av.
CB's in Green Bay and Jacksonville? Barwin to the Pats? Atlanta and Harvin? Jerry at 11? Butler at 21? Definitely there's sense in all of those picks, so props to you for coming out with something a little different to typecast projections.
