Bar-bq's Final 2012 Mock Draft! (Two Rounds)
Here's my final projection for this year! Got it in a day early. I'd love some feedback.
ROUND ONE
1. Indianapolis Colts - Andrew Luck QB, Stanford
Insert pun about this being a Lucky pick for the Colts.
2. Washington Redskins - Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
All but a foregone conclusion at this point in time.
3. Minnesota Vikings - Matt Kalil, OT, USC
Kalil is a ten-year starter on the Vikings OL. They’ll be lucky if they get ten starts from their current group. The talk of trade-up and of playmakers is smoke.
4. Cleveland Browns - Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
If the Browns are committed to McCoy, they better give him some weapons. Richardson is the best one available.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU
The draft’s best cover corner for a secondary growing long in the tooth.
6. St. Louis Rams - Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State
The Washington trade pays off: The Rams land their target and gain a mountain of picks. Though he’s good, I don’t buy Fletcher Cox for a second. Don’t be surprised to see the Rams move back.
7. Jacksonville Jaguars - Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina
At this point in time, it seems like Gilmore is the man the Jaguars want. It also seems like they want to trade down to get him. I don’t think they’ll be able to, and I think they’ll take their guy.
8. Miami Dolphins - Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M
Despite the play of Matt Moore down the stretch, I don’t see how the Dolphins can pass on Tannehill if he’s here.
9. Carolina Panthers - Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi State
There’s been talk of Mark Barron and talk of Stephon Gilmore, but of them all, Cox is a defensive anchor.
10. Buffalo Bills - David DeCastro, OG, Stanford
Surprise! There are a number of players the Bills would like to take at this position. One guy who they’ve been surprisingly quiet on is DeCastro – the Cardinals won’t suspect a thing.
11. Kansas City Chiefs - Luke Kuechly, LB, Boston College
Tough call here between Poe and Keuchly. I think the 100-tackle man is the call.
12. Seattle Seahawks – Melvin Ingram, DE, South Carolina
The Hawks would have loved Keuchly, but Ingram is an excellent consolation. Will slot right in opposite Chris Celemens.
13. Arizona Cardinals - Cordy Glenn, OG, Georgia
Glenn’s stock has been on the decline, but he’s an ideal fit in the big desert.
14. Dallas Cowboys – Mark Barron, S, Alabama
The Cowboys get their guy. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them jump up to take him.
15. Philadelphia Eagles – Dontari Poe, DT, Memphis
At this point Poe represents the best combination of value and need in Philly.
16. New York Jets - Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame
Floyd could go much higher and I do expect a trade-up - the Jets are ideal partners. If they stay put, Floyd will be a reliable target for Sanchbow.
17. Cincinnati Bengals - Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama
The Bengals need to jump on a corner now in order to avoid missing out altogether. Kirkpatrick is a top-15 talent.
18. San Diego Chargers – Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa
Reliable road grader who could step in and start right away. Slipping unexplainably, but the Chargers aren’t complaining.
19. Chicago Bears - Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina
Coples has been sliding after an underwhelming senior year. Chicago gambles on his potential, and I think it will pay off.
20. Tennessee Titans - Michael Brockers, DT, LSU
Tennessee have had problems stopping the run and getting to the passer in recent years. Brockers can do a little from column ‘a’, and a little from column ‘b’.
21. Cincinnati Bengals - Whitney Mercilus, DE/OLB, Illinois
The Bengals can wait until round 2 to grab a WR. Mercilus is a premium pass rusher.
22. Cleveland Browns - Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech
The Browns, on the other hand, cannot wait. WR is a dire need, and Hill has the higher upside.
23. Detroit Lions – Courtney Upshaw, DE/LB, Alabama
Can probably play anywhere along the front 7. You can’t pass that kind of value up if you’re the Lions. People forget that Van Den Bosch is 34, and Cliff Avril is yet to sign his tender.
24. Pittsburgh Steelers – Donta Hightower, ILB, Alabama
Big thumper who will fit right in in the middle of the Steel Curtain.
25. Denver Broncos - Jerel Worthy, DT, Michigan State
The Broncos have been seeking out help in the middle after passing on Marcel Dareus last year. Worthy could be a good get if he plays up to his potential.
26. Houston Texans - Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
Jonathan Martin might be the guy, but his stock is slipping and in my opinion Wright is too good to pass up here.
27. New England Patriots – Chandler Jones, DE/OLB, Syracuse
Somehow the Patriots always land premium value at a position of need.
28. Green Bay Packers - Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin
Scott Wells left for St. Louis – meet his replacement.
29. Baltimore Ravens – Amini Silatolu, OG, Midwestern St.
I like Silatolu as a sneaky first round pick. The Ravens will find a way to maximize his potential.
30. San Francisco ***** – Johnathan Martin, OT, Stanford
Value pick! Martin will slide right in to the 9ers OL.
31. New England Patriots – Kendall Reyes, DT, Connecticut
Ty Warren and Richard Seymour are long gone. Kendall Reyes could be the next five-technique to start for the perennial playoff participants.
32. New York Giants - Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State
ROUND TWO
33. St. Louis Rams - Kelechi Osmele, OG/OT, Iowa St
34. Indianapolis Colts - Rueben Randall, WR, LSU
35. Minnesota Vikings – Janoris Jenkins CB North Alabama
36. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Lamar Miller, RB, Miami
37. Cleveland Browns – Shea McClellin, DE/OLB, Boise State
38. Jacksonville Jaguars – Nick Perry, DE, USC
39. St. Louis Rams – Brandon Thompson, DL, Clemson
40. Carolina Panthers - Bobby Wagner, ILB, Utah State
41. Buffalo Bills – Alshon Jeffrey, WR, South Carolina
42. Miami Dolphins – Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford
43. Seattle Seahawks – Kevin Zeitler, OG, Wisconsin
44. Kansas City Chiefs - Devon Still, DT, Penn State
45. Dallas Cowboys - Derrick Wolfe, DT, Cincinnati
46. Philadelphia Eagles – Harrison Smith, S, Notre Dame
47. New York Jets – Bobby Massie, OT, Mississippi
48. New England Patriots – George Iloka, FS, Boise St.
49. San Diego Chargers – Jared Crick, DE, Nebraska
50. Chicago Bears – Zebrie Sanders, OT, Florida State
51. Philadelphia Eagles – Zach Brown, OLB, North Carolina
52. Tennessee Titans - Trumaine Johnson, CB, Montana
53. Cincinnati Bengals – AJ Jenkins, WR, Illinois
54. Detroit Lions – Mitchell Schwartz, OT, California
55. Atlanta Falcons – James Brown, OL, Troy
56. Pittsburgh Steelers – Alameda Ta’amu, DT, Washington
57. Denver Broncos - Alfonzo Dernard, CB, Nebraska
58. Houston Texans – Jeff Allen, OT, Illinois
59. Green Bay Packers - Vinny Curry, DE, Marshall
60. Baltimore Ravens – Bruce Irvin, OLB, West Virginia
61. San Francisco ***** – Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers
62. New England Patriots - Brandon Brooks, OL, Miami (Ohio)
63. New York Giants – Doug Martin, RB, Boise St.

Works for me. I also like that David Wilson, LaMichael James, Mychal Kendricks, Chris Givens, Lavonte David, Sean Spence and Chris Polk are all still on the board as possible 3rd round picks for the Rams.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

I think it's a very good draft for the Rams would be lovin it... If Randle is still on the board I would take him at 33 and go Kelechi Osmele or Brandon Thompson at 39.
Blackmon and Randle would be sweet!

Id go with Janoris Jenkins over Osemele. Other than that we get a starting WR, G, and DT...can't ask for more.

NO! Janoris Jenkins
I love that David wilson is still there in 3rd. He has the best hands out of the back field as a receiving threat.
I would take that draft. Love that Rams got Blackmon. Just wish A.J. Jenkins was available in 3rd for Rams.

That Rams draft would make me one happy CFH. Most other picks look fairly realistic to me too, with the possible exception being DeCastro to Buffalo. From what Ive read DeCastro is strictly a guard and Buffalo has one of the better interior OL's in the league. They are in dire need of a LT.

Re: Bar-bq's Final 2012 Mock Draft! (Two Rounds)
Two weeks ago I gave three draft options with two of the first three picks being WR in all of them not many liked it. Now I see several people wanting two of our first three picks to be a WR. Softli and Nick Wagoner just posted there mock drafts with two of their first three picks being a WR.
Wagoners Mock:
1 WR- Justin Blackmon
2A DT- Jerel Worthy
2B WR- Brian Quick
Softlis Mock:
1 WR- Justin Blackmon
2A WR- Rueben Randle
2B OT- Brandon Brooks
