Happy Happy Joy Joy!Bart Scott to visit Rams

The rams are taking aim at multiple free agents who previously played for the Baltimore Ravens.
In addition to center/guard Jason Brown, whom Albert Breer reports will visit St. Louis, the Rams also have lined up a visit with linebacker Bart Scott, according to Alex Marvez of foxsports.com.
Scott explained on ESPN earlier tonight that, once the talks with the Ravens bumped up against the start of free agency, he decided to go ahead and test the market.Last edited by Bald_81; -02-27-2009 at 02:02 AM.

Re: Bart Scott coming to visit St. Louis
If we can pull out Bart Scott and Jason Brown I will be overjoyed. In fact words can't explain the happiness that would wash over me.
Witherspoon, Scott, Curry

Re: Bart Scott coming to visit St. Louis
we dont have very much money. i would think it is either scott or brown. Could we sign both of these guys because that would be great.

Re: Bart Scott coming to visit St. Louis
Yeah we can sign both of them for sure
that would just mean that we don't get bartell

Re: Bart Scott coming to visit St. Louis
Scott seemed all too pleasant when talking about Ryan and the Jets on sportscenter. I think that is where he ultimately ends up, but who knows. I hope I'm wrong in this case.

Re: Bart Scott coming to visit St. Louis
Anyone else find it strange that the two biggest Ravens on the market are coming to St. Louis first and not New York? No guarantee of a signing, but still I think that's a little odd. In addition, if we can get these two I'd be more than happy that we didn't sign Bartell and instead have Scott and Brown. I don't think anyone would think differently. The signing of Scott would probably eliminate the possibility of drafting Curry.

Re: Bart Scott coming to visit St. Louis
I think it's invariably going to be one or the other, and depending on who's available, it may determine where we focus our attention in the early rounds of the draft as well. If Scott signs and Alex Mack is available in round 2, he becomes a very interesting option. If it's Brown, we have little need for a center, but a James Laurinitis might prove very intriguing in round 2.
Hold your horses. Of those three, who comes off the field in the Nickel?
If we sign Scott and draft Curry, a lot of money goes into one guy who's likely only going to be on the field for two of every three downs. Scott's real selling point isn't that he's exclusively stout against the run, or a pass specialist, but that he has a knack to be everywhere at once. Curry carries the same stigma as a draft prospect and Witherspoon has proven his ability to do everything asked of him. Speaking purely from a fiscal standpoint, I don't think that's a clever offseason plan. My vote goes to a combination of Scott // Jason Smith in that scenario.

Re: Bart Scott coming to visit St. Louis
apparently the report that Scott is coming to St Louis on Friday is untrue, and that it is the Jets he is visiting on Friday
this is no surprise because of the Rex Ryan connection

Re: Bart Scott coming to visit St. Louis
foxsports did say that, but it has been disputed by two different sources, according to rotoworld:
The Sporting News' Albert Breer is appearing to dispute a FOXSports report that free agent Bart Scott has a visit lined up with St. Louis.
Breer says the Jets "have emerged as the early favorite" to sign Scott and arranged his "first visit" on Friday. Breer does acknowledge that the Rams have expressed interest, but FOXSports might have jumped the gun. As these developments continue, the odds of Scott staying in Baltimore diminish.SI.com's Peter King seconds a Sporting News report that the Jets are "in the driver's seat" to get free agent Bart Scott.
It's looking more like FOXSports' report that the Rams were emerging as a big player in the Scott bidding is off. Scott will likely visit New York on Friday. If those talks don't go well, perhaps he'll be in St. Louis Saturday. The Sporting News' Albert Breer has confirmed that Bart Scott is "en route" to New York.
Baltimore did their best to sign Scott Thursday night, but couldn't close the deal. Breer believes there is a "good chance" Scott signs Friday with New York. Scott was earlier reported to have possibly been visiting the Rams.Last edited by tomahawk247; -02-27-2009 at 09:43 AM.

Re: Bart Scott coming to visit St. Louis
I will be SHOCKED if Scott isn't a Jet next year. He has succeeded under Ryan and his scheme. I can't imagine that he would want to go to a rebuilding team and have to learn an entirely new system when he can go play for the guy whose system has put him in the position he's in now.
We might sign a former Raven, but his name would be Brown, not Scott."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod
