How do Bernard Berrian, Tommy Kelly, Justin Smith, Jerry Porter, Drayton Florence and second teir players of the sort make more money than the best defensive FA available.
I don't think Briggs made a single free agent visit anywhere. It seems the interest in him was a lot of smoke but not a lot of fire. Makes you wonder if he really was the best defensive free agent available or if teams thought he may have been a product of the system and the talent around him.
I've read reports lately that Briggs is considered a solid WLB but that the WLB is just not considered a difficult roster position to fill right now. My guess is that and that he stayed home in Chicago are major factors.
Man. He wouldve been a decent pick up for when players like Pisa die on us again. :(
