Jared Allen set to join Seattle

Edit: He is still deciding between teams over the weekend.

    Per Espn.

Pass-rusher Jared Allen has agreed to sign with the Seattle Seahawks and is in the process of finalizing a contract with the Super Bowl champions, according to league sources.
Barring unforeseen developments, Allen intends to sign as soon as Thursday while completing his second visit with coach Pete Carroll and the team.

In all likelihood, the team had to persuade Allen to accept being a situational player on its defensive line, a unit that was pivotal as Seattle dominated Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl.
    Edit: Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter 11m
Jared Allen's agent, Ken Harris, texted his client will "consider Seahawks offer along with the others, and make a decision this weekend."
    Ian Rapoport@RapSheet 14m
Jared Allen heads home. After what were termed “good discussions” with #Seahawks, they made an offer. He’ll consider, decide this weekend
Not sure what the numbers will be, but this makes it a higher priority to get our O-line ready for the division.

    Thoughts?

That's a good fit for him, I think. It'll be interesting to see, if he signs there, what the terms are. There have been rumors he's looking for $10 million a year, but Seattle's formula is to have a big rotation of guys who are all in the "role player" type mold and aren't paid mega bucks.

Good point Nick, the guy said he would not settle for less than a value he had in his head... Or he would just sit it out and see what happens, so nice to be a multi millionaire! Good luck to Jared though as I always admired this guy. Trully hate to see him retire or in a hags uni, someone not in our division needs to make a play for him! The dang Falcons need more pass rush or the Ain'ts, Cowpokes too! What are they thinking? Of course maybe Jared only has a few teams on his shopping list...

Another reason to add talent to the OLine.

    Bears sign Jared Allen

    Bears sign Jared Allen
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 26, 2014, 8:40 AM EDT

In one of the most surprising signings in free agency to date, the Bears have acquired Jared Allen.

Allen, the former Vikings star, was widely believed to be nearing a deal with the defending champion Seahawks. Instead, he’ll stay in the NFC North but head south to Chicago.

On the Bears’ defense, Allen serves as the replacement for Julius Peppers, who departed for the Packers in free agency.

The 31-year-old Allen may not be quite the complete, all-around player he was a few years ago. But he’s still a very good pass rusher, having recorded 11.5 sacks last season. The Bears know that Allen can get after the quarterback, and now they want him doing it in Chicago eight games a year.

Jared Allen - DL - Bears

Bears agreed to terms with DE Jared Allen on a four-year, $32 contract.
Aging pass rushers are playing a game of musical chairs in the NFC North. The Bears dumped Julius Peppers, who proceeded to sign with the Packers. Now the Bears scoop up Allen from the Vikings as they continue to remake their defensive line. There's wisely only two years and $15.5 million of fully guaranteed money in this deal as Allen turns 32 next week and has shown rapidly declining quickness/stamina. Still, the Bears can now offer a solid rotation with Lamarr Houston, Willie Young and Israel Idonije off the edge. Allen had enough juice to net 11.5 sacks a year ago.
