Big Boys - Louis Nix & Daniel McCullers (Defensive Tackles)

I'll be keeping a close eye on these two defensive tackles:

    Louis Nix - DT - Notre Dame - 6'3, 340lbs.

    Daniel McCullers - DT - Tennessee - 6'8, 360lbs.

I believe they could replace Kendall Langford and give our defensive line an element that we haven't had in a long time (a mammoth space eater who's actually TALENTED), and would be the final piece of the puzzle to creating an essentially unstoppable DL.

McCullers has Albert Haynesworth-like size and Nix looks like Paul Soliai and Haloti Ngata.

While on the subject of defensive linemen prospects, if Jadeveon Clowney is available when we pick...do we pull the trigger and draft him?

That's when things get interesting. Where do we put him? Who is the person he replaces?

I'd take Clowney if I had the chance. If we had the #1 pick I'd try to slide down, but if we're prepared to stay I'd take Clowney.

As for Nix I can definitely see him in horns if Langford disappoints. Fisher clearly values dominant defensive lines (Tennessee: Kearse, Haynesworth, many more I'm missing) and even his disciple in Shwartz understands and applies the same tactic (Suh, Avril, Ansah, Fairley, Corey Williams). Nix is a monster and will probably land somewhere between 5-18, hopefully we have a chance at him with the Redskins pick. I plan on picking in the mid 20's.

It's a hypothetical that I don't see happening, but let's say the Rams had the option to draft Clowney. My first reaction would be to trade for a boatload of picks if the offer is on the table. If no offer is on the table, take him.

Robert Quinn is signed through 2014 with a club option for 2015. You could try to extend Quinn to a reasonable deal and have a trio of top defensive ends to rotate regularly, or if he wants mega-bucks, try and trade him to get some compensation. He wasn't a Fisher pick, so they might not be as attached to him.

There is no feasible scenario I foresee that would allow Clowney to fall to us, unless we have a horrible season and end up drafting #1. However if that were to happen, he plays right DE, so he'd have to replace Quinn.....the only issue with that is that I see Quinn as having the potential to be just as disruptive as Clowney is projected to be & we've seen other standout college players come into the pros & not produce, whereas in Quinn we've seen a guy that can produce on a weekly basis. So like Nick said, in this scenario simply trade the pick & amass talent.

The only way we are in a position to take clowney is if the season is awful and we get the #1 pick. If that happens, bradford has more than likely been awful and they take bridgewater (or other qb) #1. Lets hope this is not a situation that could actually happen.

Or the Redskins can have a terrible season.

I certainly agree that I think the Rams will win more games than the Redskins this year and have a better team than them, however, I really dont think either team will be in the running to be bad enough for the number 1 pick. However, If i had to pick one team that could be, I think its us. That is based solely on the division we play in (say we get swept by seattle and san fran and only take 1 from arizona) and the fact that our offense is based at this point almost entirely on "potential." I am just saying the basement for washington this year is 5 wins or so where for st louis, if bradford stuggles, we have O-line issues or injuries, and austin, quick, cook those guys dont really show up, it could be bad again

Overall, I don't think the #1 pick is probably that realistic for either one of our picks, I see that rams as a 9 or even 10 win team, That is just the scenario I would have to envision for a #1 pick to be there
