Lol I loved hearing Devaney say "You should hit on your first, second, and third picks...but if you can find starters and contributors in the lower rounds, that's where you really help yourself"
annnnnndddd that's why you were fired..

Shouldn't you hit on all of your picks?
I believe!

I think the standard for the current staff is set. They hit for the most part on all but one, a late pick at that.
I state this because I don't consider Pead or Quick as misses.
The rookie pickups this past year contributed above my expectations and the potential is there for improvement.Semper Fi

Re: Billy Devaney Talks NFL Draft and the Te’o Situation
Maybe not, but they've certainly not done enough to prove themselves hits, either. IMO, Quick, Pead, Johnson, and Watkins are in that question mark category where we don't know which way they're going just yet. But I believe all indications are the Rams hit on Brockers, Jenkins, Givens, Zuerlein, and Richardson, which is fantastic.
To have half your class well on their way to being productive players in the "hit" column after only their rookie year, including three of four Day Three prospects, is a very good sign and deserving of praise.

Re: Billy Devaney Talks NFL Draft and the Te’o Situation
My, my how the worm turns. I recall a few years back we for the most part were thrilled to have a good football mind in our FO after enduring the John Shaw years. I agree that he didn't distinguish himself with our drafts. The 2011 draft remains a huge sticking point for me because we cut every player after the 3rd round, if I'm not mistaken. Plus we busted on Jason Smith back in 2009.
In the words of some analysts, "he just doesn't take the draft seriously" and that is why with all the GM jobs open this month, he wasn't even interviewed. I wish him luck, but I feel he will need a lot more than that if he wishes to work in the NFL.
Go Rams!

The fact that Billy Devaney and in other instances Matt Millen are employed to give there "expert" opinion on things such as the draft as an analyst is downright comical.
