Bobby Carpenter to Start
According to Bill Coates of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, if there was a game tomarrow, Spaggs says that Carpenter would start over Chamberlin, Voborra, and the other LB's on the weakside. While Diggs would start on the strong side. I found this interesting because Carpenter hardly knows the plays yet and he already stole the job. Do we suck that bad or did we get a steal?

Re: Bobby Carpenter to Start
Our personnel at OLB was not good, and Carpenter has ability (former first round pick). So it's probably six of one, half dozen of the other.

Re: Bobby Carpenter to Start
like nick said, its probably a bit of both.
also too, reports out of OTA's is that Lauranaitus has been super active all offseason long.... maybe he could just tell Carpenter where to go on each play lol

Re: Bobby Carpenter to Start
I see Carpenter as a more play-making kinda OLB. He mightnt bring the big hit, we know Diggs like to do that, but the guy has finesse. Hes quick, agile and a hard worker, i can see him breaking up plays, ints, he has the speed to snuff out rb screens. Im excited considering his talent

Re: Bobby Carpenter to Start
I'd love to see both Barron and Carpenter find themselves as players, if you will, in these new systems. I think they both needed a change--they're both talented players; however, if I had to guess and pick who'll more than likely go from bust to successful, I'd pick Bobby Carpenter.

I knew Carpenter would start. I'm excited to see him play next to James though! This is going to be exciting.

Re: Bobby Carpenter to Start
I'm not at all concerned about his experience regarding the current defensive scheme. It's a little more complicated than what Ohio State runs but the base defense is virtually identical.
I'm confident Bobby will pick up the other stuff as the off-season progresses. Having a guy like Laurinaitis beside him can only help.

Re: Bobby Carpenter to Start
I hope carpenter works out coz we need some things to go our way if we want to be competitive. But he has upside, lets hope he can shine with his opportunity to start in the NFL.

Re: Bobby Carpenter to Start
More importantly, I read that there is a kind of buckeye camaraderie in the LB core. Apparently Laurinaitis, Carpenter, and Diggs seem to be getting along very well. Team spirit leads to chemistry. I like hearing stuff like that.
