Exactly. No way can Westbrook carry the load anymore, but my gosh what a quality backup he would be. With about 7-10 touches a game, our running game would be a HUGE threat. The last few years it's been a joke without Jackson on the field, but with a healthy Westbrook, look out!. I honestly had no clue he was still a FA. I pray he passes and we sign him ASAP.

I think the only probable hindrances would be a playoff team wanting him, or his contract demands being too high for the Rams tastes.

Re: Brian Westbrook to visit St. Louis

One of my favorite players, but his career is winding down to its conclusion. Westbrook is a great receiver out of the backfield, but hasn't gotten nearly enough credit for his ability to run between the tackles. A bit injury prone with a history of concussions, but maybe being a backup can keep him off the injury report. If the Rams can pick him up at a reasonable price, he'd be a good pickup for them.

I didn't buy him as a quarterback. He's just so stiff, especially when he drops back to pass. Really stiff. He reminds me of Kurt Warner.

As a third down back that doesnt have to take the punishment on early downs, Westbrook would do some damage. Providing he is healthy and wants to play.

Yeah he would be perfect in that role for us.

Well, I doubt he gets signed for more than a one or two year contract, and with this year being uncapped, I don't really see a problem with that.

Were Westbrook would make the biggest impact is in the pass game. He is great pass blocker and receiver even at this point. He can split out wide at times. Does he have alot left as a runner that is too be determined, but if he is healthy he would be a good fit on this squad.

I think this would be a very good acquisition for us. Westbrook would give us a strong backup who could provide quality starts if Jackson were to miss time. Of course we want to build with youth when possible, but sometimes that's not an option.

We didn't want t o give Willie Parker the money he wanted, and he signed to be 3rd string on Wash. instead of 2nd here.

Is that a fact? I never read anything to that extent, just that he left without a contract. Maybe we just didn't like the way he was working out.

Perhaps Parker is 30, lost his best asset (speed), and just isn't good anymore?

I'd say that is exactly what the issue is. He hasn't been good at all ever since the Rams broke him at the end of the 2008(?) season. And ever since then, the Steelers have turned into a passing team because they couldn't count on the running of Parker. He's washed up and won't do anything even in the friendly running game of Shanahan.

Now, Westbrook, he has a couple years at least in a backup role I believe, and desperately wants to play. He'd be a great signing I think.
    I believe!

Could have sworn I read it somewhere, can't remember where though, it has been a while.

Would be a great addition to the Rams. May have declined over the last year or so but is still a threat.

Using him as a 3rd down back or a 2 rb set would improve our offence greatly.

He also has good hands and could be used in the receiving game.

I'm all for this move and the sooner the better.
