    Browns release Greg Little

    Thoughts?

    Browns release Greg Little
Posted by Josh Alper on May 16, 2014

The Browns brought in a pair of veteran receivers this week, but they’re reportedly closing it out by cutting a different one.

PFT has learned that the Browns are parting ways with Greg Little. The move leaves the newly signed Miles Austin and Earl Bennett to go with Andrew Hawkins, Nate Burleson andTravis Benjamin at wideout with Josh Gordon facing a suspension.

Little was a second-round pick of the team in 2011 and has started 41-of-48 regular season games since joining the team, but he seemed to steadily fall out of favor last season on his way to 41 catches for 465 yards and two touchdowns. Drops have been an issue for Little over the years and, despite the starting role, he never developed into the receiver the Browns were hoping to get when they drafted him.

There were reports that last year’s Browns regime was planning to proceed without Little before the Browns decided to proceed without them. He clearly didn’t make much in the way of a positive impression on the new decision makers either if they were willing to wash their hands of Little even with Gordon likely out of the picture.

Little may get another look this summer, but getting cut from this receiver group isn’t the best omen for a long NFL career.

With Bailey out for four weeks he could be a nice addition.

    Before we all say no...

Pettis in four years plying with Bradford has 95 catches, 916 yards 8 TDs.
Little in four years playing with well whoever they could get has 155 catches,1,821 8 TDs.

Not saying he's the answer but having another young WR in the mix would not hurt IMO.

If he cannot stick with the Browns who have the same suspension situation at WR that we're facing with Bailey, only worse, I cannot see the sense in bringing him in here, where he'd have to learn new system. Maybe Norv Turner will like him for the Vikings as he worked with Norv in Cleveland last year.

    Go Rams!

Let me ask you this if we lose a WR in preseason to injury that leaves us only four that have played any real snaps. Who do you like behind our top five stepping up until Bailey comes back?

If the price was right, I'd give him a chance. Getting cut might be the best thing for him.

Either way. it can't be any worse than Britt.

    I should elaborate.

He has a major case of the dropsies and has mental lapses that are extremely frustrating. He wouldn't make it out of the logjam we currently have.

sometimes you need a new organization to get things back on track

and from what fans say...if he could just catch better he'd be elite since he can separate from defenders and has good physical traits

so if the rams sign him...just have him practice with the machines and catch all day lol

Vet minimum and let's see if he can crack the roster. Is there really much downside to that?

I would intentionally drop balls so I could get released too if I was on the Browns...

our WR are very good, stellar in fact. So much so, that we didnt need to draft one in one of the deepest WR classes of all time.

I know you all know we will be OK with what we have, even without the budding superstar Stedman.

This guy has some of the worst hands in the league. I'll happily pass.

He has some of the worst hands I've ever seen on a WR who made it to the NFL. Literally a couple bricks duct taped to his hands.

    Pettis is underrated.

Last year, when Bradford and the Rams had the best red-zone conversion percentage in the league, Pettis was a key red-zone threat.

He accounted for four touchdowns during the seven game span that Bradford was healthy. That means 29% of Bradford's touchdown passes went to Pettis.

Don't count him out just yet.
