Keep in mind some of the elite QB's have been taken after the 1st round, Brady & Montana are a few that come to mind. On top of that IMHO most QB's taken #1 overall go down in flames & are true bust which is the last thing I want to see. And yes I'm aware of some that have panned out.

Taking a QB as the # 1 overall pick actually has a very good chance for
success. The % falls somewhere just above 50%. For every Tim Couch there is a Peyton Manning!
Since 1998 Couch, David Carr, and Alex Smith have been busts, yet Peyton, Eli, Carson Palmer have had tremendous success. Even Vick made several pro-bowls before his little incident. Stafford also had relative success in his rookie year. So you see picking #1 is as good a spot as any too pick a QB, just be sure to pick the right one!
