he would be more like a Grant winstrom...4-3 DE with a high motor. Comparisons to V. Gholston are more like Lawrence Taylor/ julius Peppers....Who do you spend the number 2 draft on....Grant Winstom...or LT.....seems obvious to me....Get on the VG bandwagon now.....i want to win...not just give a good effort.

Chris Long is not Grant Wistrom.
Vernon Gholston is not LT nor Peppers.

Grant Wistrom was strictly a run-stopping 4-3 DE & all-effort pass rusher with good athleticism.
Chris Long is a versatile (3-4 DE, 4-3 DE, 3-4 OLB) run stopper & all-effort pass rusher with great athleticism.


LT was a 240 pound linebacker, a blitzing pass rusher AND a dominant run stopper from sideline to sideline. His motor was never questioned.

Peppers is a 4-3 DE (though big enough to play 3-4 DE), and just as solid pass rushing as run stopping. His motor has never been questioned.

Gholston is a 3-4 OLB with great measureables, and a natural pass rusher. His run stopping appears to be adequate. In two years of college ball, his motor has already been questioned.

I repeat....

Chris Long IS NOT Grant Wistrom.
Vernon Gholston IS NOT Taylor or Peppers.

As for the "athletic difference" between Long and Gholston....

Long - 4.75 forty, 2.7 twenty, 1.53 ten, 34 vert., 10'04" broad, 4.21 shuttle, 7.02 cone
Gholston - 4.58 forty, 2.63 twenty, 1.59 ten, 42 vert., 10'05" broad, 4.40 shuttle, 7.12 cone

Are we ready to move on from the "significant athletic difference" between Long and Gholston? Or are going to continue to stick our heads in the sand, and trumpet the sterotypes?

I want Chris Long. High powered, Highly energetic, Highly motivated beast. I hope the fish dont take him. I would be happy with Gholston but i really really want Long to be wearing horns rather then fish.
