Carlos Dunlap?
before this year dunlap was considered the best DE in the draft and sure fire 1st rounder. After a slumping year he is a possible 1st rounder. He has good size 6-6 275 pounds. However he has character issues and has a DUI this year. Spags and Billy D seems to be lightening there stance on the character issues.
If Dunlap is available in the top of the 2nd round should we take him?
Should we draft him if we take a DT in Ndamukong Suh?

Re: Carlos Dunlap?
Well, we certainly can't afford to take two D Lineman in the first two rounds, and to be honest, if we didn't take Suh and Dunlap was available at the top of the second, I still wouldn't take him. He seems like a Jarvis Moss type bust to me. (Although I'd give Dunlap the nod of having a better chance because of his bulk)

Re: Carlos Dunlap?
guys a monster and should have a really good combine, if he was there they'd have to at least take a look at him.

If Dunlap is available in the second then i retract my statement of BQBA in the second and get dunlap. Then get Lefevour in the third.

Re: Carlos Dunlap?
He's not a 4-pillars guy, so while he has boat loads of talent, he won't be on our radar; drunk driving is serious and usually something that can't be fixed in a few months.

Re: Carlos Dunlap?
Drinking and driving is a character flaw that can be fixed with firm punishment. Lets be serious here no matter what spags says about character flaws and four pillars he is in a position that he knows we need talent to win, dunlap brings talent with the one major blemish on his record. It is an easy call Dunlap and Suh added to the line would make us have a very good defensive front, Spags wont pass that up.
Edit: Spelling Errors

Re: Carlos Dunlap?
There are some concerns with him that would make me a bit hesitant of him in general as a prospect, but if he's there in the second round for some reason, I'm not sure how you couldn't consider him at all. Interviews regardng his drunk driving arrest will be key for him.

Re: Carlos Dunlap?
There are also reports about his lack of motivation, love of the game, work ethic...etc.
But, like Nick said, if he's available in the second, we're going to have to take a real long look at him. He has top 15 talent no doubt.

Re: Carlos Dunlap?
I've read a lot about his lack of effort and that he takes plays off. Add that to the obvious character concerns and it seems like too many red flags for me.

Re: Carlos Dunlap?
I'm not a fan of guys known to call it in during a football game. Ive seen many clips of him walking or giving up on plays he still has a shot at. I'm not impressed with anything about him besides his measurables. You have to consider him i suppose but id rather go elsewhere. Average Talent, Outstanding Work Ethic? Outstanding Talent, Poor Work Ethic?
Lawrence Philips was the best athlete on the field most of the time but was a total a-hole..not saying that's Dunlap but....we'll just have to see what he has to say on all this and if he really gives a crap that anyone's saying anything at all..

Re: Carlos Dunlap?
I would be very surprised if Dunlap were available at #33, particularly if he does well in the Combine and workouts. If he was still on the board, I'd consider him, though taking DL in the first two rounds would not be my first choice.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Carlos Dunlap?
After taking Suh we won't need to take him in the second round or would we...Hmmmm very interesting....
