carriker vs alan branch
Rams are picking at 13. Assume adams, anderson, landry and okoye are gone.
Who would you take branch or carriker. You can vote for timmons or willis i guess if you want. You can also vote for a different defensive end (ie charles johnson)

Re: carriker vs alan branch
I would go with Carriker. As I've posted before, I have concerns about Branch's motivation level. I keep reading things like "lazy" and "sluggish" with him.
I like what Carriker brings to the table.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: carriker vs alan branch
Another adjective I've heard associated with Branch is "pluggish," which is a trait our defensive line could certainly use in the middle.
Even with the work ethic concerns taken into consideration, I still have Branch right behind Anderson and Adams. The fact that Carriker was a boarderline first round pick only 3-4 weeks ago kind of worries me.

Re: carriker vs alan branch
I feel that AV's list is very accurate.
Carriker DE- 4.5/4.5
Okoye DT- 4.5/4.5
Branch DT- 4.0/4.5
If Linehan has a choice between Carriker and Branch I feel very confident he'll select Carriker. On the other hand if it comes down to Okoye and Carriker? Linehan will have a dilemma on his hands. I still think he'll lean towards Carriker. :r

Re: carriker vs alan branch
As my mock indicates, if it came down to Okoye and Carriker, I'd go with Okoye - mainly because there will be better DE options in the second round than there will be DT options at that point, in my opinion.

Re: carriker vs alan branch
It does seem as though Linehan is fairly keen on Carriker and might take him even if Okoye was still on the board. Personally I'd like to see us go with Okoye if he's there. Branch I'm not sure about since a lot of people have been saying he's lazy.
Between Carriker and Branch I'd probably go with Carriker.

I dont believe for a second that we are going to pass on okoye if he is on the board. I am not very influenced by what linehan says because i dont see why he would be honest about it now.

Re: carriker vs alan branch
Even with motivational concerns, outside of Mel Kiper's big board, I think every draft source that I regularly check still has Branch rated as the top defensive tackle and in the top ten of all prospects.
Considering Branch is exactly what we need (massive size to take up blocks and stop the inside run) at our biggest area of need (nose tackle), I think between the two, he should be the pick over Carriker.
If the Rams had a choice between the two and took Carriker, then I'd be curious to see what their plans are for addressing the NT position.

Re: carriker vs alan branch
Well, well, we have a dilemma! GC, now you've got me second guessing between DT Branch and DE Carriker but from what little I've researched, seems that Adam Carriker is a better player in terms of character. Has great DE size too.
I'd take the Cornhusker then, probably thinking that Branch won't be there at the #13 pick.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, is there ANY way we can make and pour some wakeup juice into Kennedy's belly and 'transform' him into a better defensive tackle? For crying out loud! What is he lacking!?!
But I think Carriker would definitely improve our DL. Get him!
