Thing that gets me is that there are few apparently no sure thing regular LBs coming out in this draft.

Although Sedrick Ellis is now number 2 on my personal board (Chris Long is still at the top) I can't see Miami picking him #1 unless they plan to stick with the 4-3, which would be a surprise to many. Does anybody else see the Tuna going for Ellis as the first pick?
Also, how in the world do they have the Rams passing on Chris Long in favor of Dorsey? All in all this is a pretty poor mock IMHO.

People see the Tuna taking Ellis first becuase he might be able to play NT which is argurably the most important eliment of the 3-4. Some analyst say he can some say he can't depends on who you ask. Regardless i don't think he will go number 1 overall

There's a case to be made that Ellis is a better fit for a 3-4 Dolphins defense than Dorsey is. Some feel Ellis could potentially play NT in the 3-4, and though drafting a nose tackle with the first overall pick seems strange, you really don't see a lot of great 3-4 NT prospects anymore so they're getting harder to come by.

Ellis is shooting up draft boards after an impressive week in Mobile, but I think he'll have to impress again at the combine to have a chance of top pick consideration.

i didn't hear or see so much of ELLIS this year . i get a little concerned about guy's that go from , not mentioned so much, to being #1 in a short time . but ' i did read that the RAMS have DORSEY as the #1 player on their board . so if he's there to be had , we'll get him . so now we can look to see how best our D-line will be built so far with the DORSEY addition .

At the nose tackle position, Ellis accumulated more sacks and as many tackles for loss as Dorsey did this year. He was the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year, and was named to numerous first-team All American list. He was a top ten pick before heading into the Senior Bowl. I don't think it's accurate to say he's a guy that's not been mentioned so much.

The report I read said that there are some in the organization that feel he's the best player in this class, but there's no way the Rams have even come close to putting up their final draft board at this point. We haven't even gotten to the combine yet.

See that's exactly why I have elevated Sedrick Ellis to No.2 on my draft board. Sure Mr. Dorsey had some injury issues this year, but as Nick as pointed out on prior posts, he only had like 12 sacks and/or 7 QB pressures over his career. I mean S. Ellis playing a position that does not engender it to glorious statistics easliy beat those numbers. Plus the accounts I read of him at the Senior Bowl practices mentioned that he was throwing opposing linemen around like rag dolls. Folks, it could very well be that Sedrick Ellis is not just a NT or an UT but is actually BOTH. This may be a guy we cannot pass on.

there is no chance in the world that kenny phillips is on that list at #2. Dont get me wrong, i like him, but there is no way he is going to get picked by us ahead of the other four. Now, if we trade down a bit, who knows. I like your list of the other four, i think you are dead on.

In comparing dorsey to ellis, one thing i think everyone better realize is that there is an ENORMOUS difference between getting double and triple teamed all year by SEC offensive lines compared to pac 10 offensive lines. Night and day guys. Also remember, were the elite of the elite really at the senior bowl? No knock on ellis, great prospect. I am quite sure that if dorsey is healthy coming out of the combine, he is selected ahead of ellis. Tuna can make noise about ellis, which is another way of keeping the price down on dorsey.

Personally, my gut tells me that assuming we dont trade down, we will either pick chris or jake long. I am hoping chris, as safe a pick as possible at a position that is certain to help us.

Kenny Phillips will have to do sometrhing amazing to warrant top 5 consideration, and there's often a big difference between a top 5 and a top 10 player.
