Clemens signs w/ Chargers & other free agent notes

Cortland Finnegan - DB - Free Agent

Free agent CB Cortland Finnegan will visit the Dolphins Friday.
Scheduled to count $10 million against the cap, Finnegan was released by the Rams last week. Considering his relationship with coach Jeff Fisher, it was a bad sign. Finnegan is ill-suited to be a starter opposite Brent Grimes at age 30.

Looks like Rams may draft a QB after all. Kellen Clemens agrees to terms with San Diego! per @RapSheet.

No more Kellen Clemens? This is a little surprising. Thought he did okay for us last season. Bradford hasn't shown to be durable enough to only have Austin Davis and a late round draft pick as his backups.

So the Rams could be in the market for a veteran QB who is familiar with Schotty's offense.......Mark Sanchez anyone?

I wouldn't mind Sanchez. Knows the system and has had some good years under Shcotty.

Kellen Clemons signs with the Titans

He tweeted this out this afternoon. This leaves only Bradford and Austin Davis on our roster. Who should we go after?

Lots of folks think this is about bringing in Sancjez after the Jets cut him. he knows the offense, and St louis is a good place to regroup without all t hat media nonsense.

You could probably do a lot worse when it comes to a back-up. Having a borderline starter quality guy with scheme familiarity shouldn't be underestimated.

Kellen Clemens signs with the Bolts

The Chargers were obviously not devastated by the news backup quarterback Charlie Whitehurst was going to Tennessee.Because within minutes, they had replaced him.
The team announced they had agreed to a two-year deal with Kellen Clemens to be their backup.
The main difference between the two lately is that Clemens has played. He started nine games for the Rams last year.
Clemens has a 68.6-64.6 edge in all-time passer rating, and has a 8-13 record as a starter compared to Whitehurst’s 1-3.
And the reality is, if either of them end up playing a lot, or at all, it’s probably bad news.

Time for us to groom a young solid back-up QB for that #2 role. And as plan B just in case.

    Re: Couple free agent notes

I'm all for Sanchez, still has some skills left and he wouldn't be the worse back-up QB in the league. I'd still draft a developmental guy in the middle rounds though

Sanchez would be an amazing addition IMO. Great backup QB. Knows the system, a QB who's taken the Jets to two AFC championships. I'd bring Mark on board absolutely! (If he was let go).
