Re: Cornerback Cromartie on the trading block?

Sometimes I just don't understand what goes through the minds of the Chargers FO. As far fetched as this notion seems, it's not really too hard to believe based on the multitude of bone headed decisions that have been made in San Diego the last several years. I'd take this guy in a second, but I won't hold my breath because if this story is true, he'll be a very hot commodity.

Cromartie had a down year, but I doubt it caused a significant drop in his value in trade talks. Ask yourselves if you were the Chargers whether or not you would trade Antonio Cromartie for Orlando Pace and/or Torry Holt. I have a hard time coming up with an answer that isn't "no."

I think we should get more out of Pace than a cb w/a broken hip. Maybe throw in a 2nd and a 4 or 5th rounder.

We will be lucky to get a 3rd for Pace. This years draft has decent OT prospects falling to the 3rd wound (Tupou and others). I am not saying they can or will play to Paces level but thats hard to give up for a guy with Paces recent injury history and age. KC got Vrabel and possibly their franchise QB for a 2nd round pick. The QB will be around long past Pace. I think we will wind up getting a 4th or 5th for Pace if they trade him.

I think you're really overvaluing Pace at this point. He's been dangling on the trade block since the Senior Bowl and we have only one report - one! - of a team possibly being interested.

The Chargers simply are not going to trade Cromartie, a second round pick, and a fourth/fifth round pick for a tackle turning 34 this November. Heck, if I'm San Diego, I'm not that inclined to trade Cromartie for Pace straight up.

Okay, hold on them. Let me go to the fridge and get a few drinks. Then you'll probably be able to get whatever answer you want.

Pass me one while your at it Nick, I would love to see Pace retire as a RAM if possible.
I still think he has a good year or two left.

I don't think they would go for a straight trade either but maybe Pace and one of our mid picks would come closer. Yes I know we need more picks not less but if we are even considering going after a cb in this draft I would rather have Antonio Cromartie than an unproven mid round cb prospect.

Maybe we can even throw in the new stadium in LA into the deal.

Re: Cornerback Cromartie on the trading block?

    Where does Cromartie's value stand?

If he were available for a second round pick, even a future second round pick, and you're the Rams, do you make the deal?

I'd love to see Cromartie as a Ram.... but I can't see what we can offer San Diego.

Holt and a 3rd rounder might work, but would they actually want it!? I just can't see them wanted Pace

Re: Cornerback Cromartie on the trading block?

theyve had problems getting decent wideouts...so maybe Holt would be of interest..id give them Holt,a 3rd or 4th this year (using whatever we can get for Pace) and a 2nd round pick next year.

putting Cromatie on the trade block because he only had 2 INT`s this year??..despite the fact he seems to have played the entire year with a broken hip plus the fact that when Merryman went down they lost their pass rush...WOW!

if they trade him away, they gonna regret it for years to come..(unless they get a silly amount of draft picks i guess...)

Re: Cornerback Cromartie on the trading block?

Cromartie as a rookie was outstanding for the Chargers, drafted in the first round, 19th overall he had 10 interceptions and 1 touchdown. In his second season this year with the Chargers his number fell drastically, only 2 interceptions and 1 touchdown.
I'm sorry, but the initial report loses some credibility when the reporter doesn't get facts straight. Cromartie's rookie year he did very little. His 2nd year he had 10 picks, and in his 3rd year, that fell to 2 picks though he was thrown at more.

Re: Cornerback Cromartie on the trading block?

A defensive backfield of Cromartie/Bartell/Atogwe/Bryant sounds excellent to me. Cromartie's drop off last year was due to playing a FULL SEASON WITH A BROKEN HIP. You stat guys look this up for me: what's the best season for a CB who played the whole season with a broken hip? I know you can find it somewhere.
