Re: Could Michael Vick be an option for St. Louis Rams?

What could be worse.....0-16? How much worse is 0-16 versus 1-15? How much more risky is 0-16 versus 1-15? One thing I do know, that if these WR's don't start getting open, a scrambling QB is much better than a pocket QB......I'm not advocating signing Vick by any means but I am saying I wouldn't be surprised if he was signed. It's just odd that the game winning TD pass for this season came from a fake punt attempt by the kicker. Again, drastic times sometimes call for drastic measures.

    I disagree with this entirely.

If any person in the Rams front office told Thomas or any member of the media that the Rams are interested in Vick, they would be risking a tampering charge because Vick is under contract.

Thomas is just trying to drum up discussion in a dead time of the year for a team not in the playoffs.

The Vick story has a certain surface logic to it (Devaney's connection to the Falcons; Shurmur's connection to the Eagles; the Rams' obvious need for a QB). But that does not mean the Rams are considering Vick.

Until the Eagles either cut Vick or put him on the "trading block," anything we read is speculation. Nothing more, nothing less.

Who is to say they didn't? Maybe the front office was trying to figure out some kind of trade Av where tampering wouldn't come into play?

This is a business. Shady business practices happen all the time. However, calling out Jim Thomas and his integrity well......not so sure I would even though I bet he could care less.

I'm not questioning Thomas' integrity. I don't need to. He does not assert any facts. Nowhere in his article does he state that the Rams ARE considering Vick, he merely suggests that they COULD consider him. Of course they COULD. I don't need anyone to tell me that. If Thomas (or any other reporter) reports that the Rams ARE considering Vick, that would be a news story.

I waffle back and forth on the Vick issue.

I don't think he would hurt us but I'm not sure he would help us.

In the end it comes down to this for me... I trust Devaney and respect Spags.

If they bring him on board I will cross my fingers and hope for the best.

If they don't bring him on board I will cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Maybe. Or it could just be steam (aka hot air).

I just love how everyone's bugging out over giving the dude a shot to play again. It's not a guarantee that he's starting next year for us if we sign him, he's competing with everyone else. Why is this such a big deal?

    I'll give you two reasons:

    1. Signing/trading for Vick would likely mean that the Rams would not pursue another FA QB, many of whom I believe are better options; and

    2. Signing/trading for Vick might impact how high in the draft the Rams would consider taking a QB.

Ok, let's put it this way. This is all hypothetical but more than likely we are going to keep our #1 pick. As of right now, no QB seems worthy of that 1st pick, right? So we pick up Suh.

    2nd round, maybe Colt McCoy?

Or better yet, say your first 3 rounds from your mock turn into reality. How does that interfere with anything?

There aren't that many FA QBs that are that much better than Vick, in my opinion and quite frankly none of them have the upside Vick potentially has. The only guy who I could see coming in and really doing well is Campbell but it looks like Shanny is going to wind up keeping him.

Again, I don't see the harm in giving the guy a chance. At this point, sign Vick and another FA QB, if the price is right.

Seems like the Eagles like Vick for now. So he may not be going anywhere.

No way, this is just a plea to drive up his trade value before they have to release him. They don't want to pay 5 mil to their 3rd QB when they just got bumped out of the playoffs after 2 weeks of embarrassment by the Cowgirls.

Philly needs 5 mil for their defense and O-Line. McNabb only has 2 prime years left and philly will do anything to add to their team. They will trade or release Vick otherwise if they sign him, that's the end of Chunky Soup in Philly.

This is a critical year for Philly -- loook for them to make a run at Marshall and Peppers.

    That's where we disagree.

Fair enough, who did you have in mind? Would you be accepting of Vick if none of the guys you like are available?
