Could a Pro Bowl type SLB be hitting the market?
According to Fanball.com
The News
Bills linebacker Takeo Spikes may be a salary cap casualty this offseason. "Coming back from an Achilles is always difficult. Takeo didn't have a year equal to what he's had in the past. How does he fit? We're still in the process of evaluating all of that," Bills general manager Marv Levy told the Buffalo News Sunday.
Of course he has had some serious injuries but still plays very well when healthy, say he's cut would you sign him? For a cheaper price?
I would I tell you that.

Re: Could a Pro Bowl type SLB be hitting the market?
He just turned 31 and has suffered through Achilles', hamstring, and ankle injuries for the last two seasons. The Bills are said to be evaluating whether or not he can return to form. If they cut him, it probably means they don't think he can. I really wouldn't consider him much of an option. You can't count on him to start the whole year, meaning even if we signed him we'd need a contingency plan.

This belongs in the FA thread. (It seems fair to do the same to you that you did to F-T-C.)

I'd at least want to check him out. Let our medical staff evaluate whether they agree with the Bills. Last year Julian Peterson and Drew Brees were both injury risks and wound up being among the better FA signings in 2006 in retrospect.

It is the NFL, everyone gets injured. Injuries are part of the game. Spikes would bring big plays and respect to the Rams D.

How about Thomas from the Raven's ??? He's a big strong guy, that could also rush the passer on third down. This is the guy I hope the Rams make a big push for. The defense would be instantly upgraded.
Now for a big SOB for the nose !!!!!

Dan Morgan is also in risk f being cut and he is coming off of some concussions, but he and spoon played well together.

Re: Could a Pro Bowl type SLB be hitting the market?
Julian Peterson wasn't attractive last year? That's why his own team wanted him back and six different teams were potentially interested in him? He wasn't attractive, which is why Seattle signed him to a huge seven year deal?
I'm not sure how you guys can compare Spikes to both Peterson and Brees. Neither of the latter two players struggled for two years with injury issues only to get cut by their teams. They both played well in 2005 and left as free agents. The ***** were interested in bringing Peterson back and considered tagging him, and the Chargers released medical information about Brees that said he was ahead of schedule and would make a full recovery. That's a complete 180-degree reversal from what the Bills would be saying by choosing to cut Spikes, since they'd only do so if their evaluation was that he wouldn't recover and they didn't want him back.

If we are going to go after a Bills linebacker make it London Fletcher!
