Could there now be a team to trade up......
Favre says he's retiring.
Whose going to QB for the Jets and at #17, is there a realistic opportunity for them to trade up with the Rams, especially is Detriot doesn't take a QB?

Re: Could there now be a team to trade up......
Two things have to happen first.
1. The Raiders have to fall crazy in love with Michael Crabtree. And are willing to trade above the Seahawks to get him.
2. The Jets have to fall crazy in love with Mark Sanchez. And are willing to trade into the top 10 to get him.
Trade goes like this:
Raiders get: #2 pick (select Crabtree)
Rams get: #7, #40, & '10 2nd round pick
Jets get: #7 pick (select Sanchez)
Rams get: #17 & #53
So in the end...
Raiders: Michael Crabtree
Jets: Mark Sanchez
Rams: #17, #40, #53 & an extra 2010 second rd. spot
Not saying it's gonna happen, but it's at least realistic."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

The Jets aren't jumping from 17 to 2. So you'd have to have something like HUb's theory, where we trade down a little bit first, and someone is still on the board. It's highly unlikely.

Why not the other New York team ttok a risk at QB in Manning and it paid off. If they see the right guy they might make the move.
They took some chances last year in acquiring free agents and Favre.

Re: Could there now be a team to trade up......
Because the difference in value from 2nd overall to 17th overall is worth nearly another top five pick. Even the difference between 7th overall and 17th overall is in the first round range.
The Jets would have to sell the farm in order to move up and take an underclassmen QB when the history of underclassmen signal callers in the NFL is not promising. If they're willing to throw a bunch of picks around for a QB, they may as well go after Cassel.
I don't see it happening unless one or both of the passers slips to the very bottom of the top ten, if not outside of it altogether.

Re: Could there now be a team to trade up......
Well if this is true then it probably won't happen as I don't see Kansas City passing on Sanchez should he grade out well at the combine.
One other possibility is that the Rams lower their asking price a bit to accomodate a team trying to move up. This could happen as I believe the Rams would want more picks overall as compared to just one first rounder.
WHAT SAY YE?

I'm trusting in Billy D to have done his job well, know his big board, and stick to his guns.
Any thoughts on if the Rams choose to trade down for multi-picks, is it a sign Spagnuolo thinks were are far away from being a playoff calibre franchise, rather than sticking at 1.2 and taking the best talent?

Any chance we could suggest the Jets deal D'Brickashaw Ferguson along with their first rounder?

Re: Could there now be a team to trade up......
Over in Jets Country, they are real confident in Kellen Clemons and there is a significant population of people that would like to see Brett Ratliff (who was their #3 guy last year) assume the role as starter...he's played well in the pre-season and has created a buzz amongst local circles much like Tony Romo did a couple years ago...I don't think they are as desperate at quarterback as the rest of the nation believes they are.
I think the Raiders wanting to trade up ahead of Seattle and wanting to avoid doing business with the Chiefs would be your best bet...

Re: Could there now be a team to trade up......
I know it might be the value chart to get two second rounders by going down to #7. But IMO if I were the Rams I would drop down to #7 for just the one extra 2nd round pick. Guys that could still be on the board at 7 are Rey Maualuga MLB, Brian Cushing MLB, James Laurinaitis MLB, Jason Smith OT, Andre Smith OT, B.J. Raji NT, Michael Oher OT, and Brian Orakpo DE. We could then get Ron Brace NT in the second and either Alex Mack C, Max Unger C, Sean Smith CB, D.J. Moore CB, 2nd round OT. We need several new starters and we could possibly get 3 good starters instead of two and would not have to commit the 2nd pick in the drafts dollars to one player.

Hey Hubison
I wouldn't want to move to #17. I would move to the 6th Bengals Or 7th raiders for there 2nd and 3rd ,or 2nd & 3rd 2010 pick.
Hell, just there 2nd rd pick . Still get the stud OT in First.
