Crystal Ball: Rams 2009 starters and backups
Ok, i decided to put together a realistic rams roster for 2009 to see what you guys think.
Won't be back
glover, chavous, becht, Holt, Incognito, Berlin, Dante Hall, Manning JR, Minor, Gorin, kreider, Looker, setterstrom, F. Brown.
that leaves 15 spots after Atogwe, adeyanju stills, goldberg and Bartell are retained.
Free Agents
Matt Birk, Center
Steps in imediately as the starter, is a very smart player and a true leader.
James Butler, SS
Also an Immediate Starter, can play the run and is capable of taking on receivers one-on-one.
Kelvin Hayden, CB
Provides experiecne we lose in Brown, but brings a lot more to the table athletically. Soetimes has trouble in man, but could battle with a draft pick and hill for the starting gig opposite bartell.
Jovan Haye, DT
Takes over for Glover while we develop Clifton Ryan. Gives his all every play, and get at the QB in passing situations.
Nate Washington, WR
Has very sure hands for a guy who was mostly a deep threat in pittspurgh. Can step in the slot, and also give breathers to avery and Bennett. Or take over becasue we all know bennett is china doll.
Ray Willis, OG
The rams will bring in willis to push Greco for the RG spot and provide depth.
Brandon Jones, WR
Huge target who can be a red-zone threat. Also provides depth for bennett, and is a betetr blocker than people think.
Ryan Nece-MLB
Good backup, who provides depth and experience.
2009 NFL Draft
Round one
Aaron Curry-MLB- Wake Forest (6-3, 247)
Can easily step in at MLB and be a patrick willis type playmaker for years to come. This allows spoon to go to weakside, and pisa to go to strongside.
Second Round
William Beatty-LT-UConn (6-6, 306)
The more i see of this guy, the more i like. He is undervalued because he played against lower competition in the big east, but could step in right away at RT if pace returns, or at LT if pace is gone.
Third Round
Connor Barwin-DE-Cincinnatti (6-4, 255)
Relentless player, who does whatever is asked of him and can play the run.
He doesn't have the top flight speed, but could be in a very good rotation including leonard little. Also is an excellent special teams player.
Fourth Round
Keenan Lewis-CB-Oregon State (6-1 196)
Very good man coverage skills, something the rams lack outside of Bartell. Also possesses very good size, could match up well with bigger receivers, something the rams also lack.
Fifth Round
Tom Brandstater-QB-Fresno state (6-5, 240)
From what i hear, this guy is a born leader who has all of the physical tools but needs some coaching. This is perfect since we have a couple years to groom him while we see if Bulger can learn to be an actual team leader.
Sixth Round
Edwin Williams-C-Maryland (6-3, 315)
Could benefit greatly from learning under Matt Birk. His size and smarts makes him an excellent fit in a west coast offense, but like brandstater needs coaching.
Seventh Round
Brennan Southerland-FB-Georgia (6-0, 240 Lbs)
True FB who can step in immediately and block for sjax. Real football player who likes to put it all out out there and is unselfish.
Starters
QB-Bulger
Backups- Trent Green, Tom Brandstater
RB- Steven Jackson
Backups- Antonio pittman, Brian Leonard
FB- Brennan Southerland
Backup- Brian Leonard
WR1- Donnie Avery
Backup- Nate Washington, Derek Stanley
WR2- Drew Bennett
Backup- Keenan Burton, Brandon Jones
TE- Randy McMichael
Backup-Joe Klopfenstein
LT- Orlando Pace
Backup- William Beatty
LG- Jacob Bell
Backup- Adam Goldberg
C- Matt Birk
Backup- Edwin williams
RG- John Greco
Backup- Ray Willis
RT- William Beatty
Backup- Alex Barron
RDE- Chris Long
Backup- Victor Adeyanju
LDE- Leonard Little
Backup- Connor Barwin
DT- Adam Carriker
Backup- James Hall
DT- Jovan Haye
Backup- Clifton Ryan
WLB- Will Witherspoon
Backup- Chris Draft
MLB- Aaron Curry
Backup- Ryan Nece
SLB- Pisa Tinoiasmoa
Backup- David Vobora
LCB-Ron Bartell
Backup- Keenan Lewis
RCB- Kelvin Hayden
Backup- Tye Hill
SS- James Butler
Backup- Todd Johnson
FS- O.J Atogwe
Backup- Eric Bassey
comments are greatly appreciated.

Holt will be bak and traded during deadline
only on a 1-2 year deal
excellent
Jovan Haye, DT
Takes over for Glover while we develop Clifton Ryan. Gives his all every play, and get at the QB in passing situations.
Nate Washington, WR
Has very sure hands for a guy who was mostly a deep threat in pittspurgh. Can step in the slot, and also give breathers to avery and Bennett. Or take over becasue we all know bennett is china doll.

For all three i got better idea and an idea not to take these 3
only if he is for cheap
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
only for chump change
Also im thinking about spending our big bucks on a MLB on Vilma or Crowder
instead of taking Curry we take Crabtree so we dont take Nate Washington or B. Jones. This will allow us to trade HOLT mid-season so he can teach crabs the ropes 1st.
good
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Little is our only pass rushing lineman and he still has 2 years left
i think Ron Brace will be here for the Rams
4th round pick trade for lito sheppard
Rhett Bomar instead
since we did not get him in the 1st round Barron will start at RT and Beatty will back up
