    Day Two Ramblings

This draft , even with few deals by the Rams, has been so fun, because these guys seem to have exactly the board I do this year. With so much info out there, if you can seperate the wheat from the chaff, ant fan with lots of time can think right along with the Rams brain trust.

These guys really are on the ball, clearly very prepared, and also with a relationship with certain guys, like Fisher and Snead with the Auburn team.

Going into round three for instance, my top two players for the Rams were Morgan Moses, who went before their pick, and Tre Mason.

I was afraid the Rams would miss out on the value at RB, but Mason fell, and a guy who they say may be too small to carry a big load, won't have to in St Louis, but it's funny they say that about a guy who carried it over and over and over this year at Auburn.

Just look at the game against Missouri, and you see why the Rams wanted him.

The move up to get Joyner, CLEARLY a guy they almost had to have, on my board by far the top DB in a thinning bunch that saw a lot of picks early.

Snead and Fisher gambled that no safety/CB needy team would move up because only Tennessee, picking hust ahead of the Rams seemed quite likely to pounce on the Rams guy, who got rave reviews from his college coach as one of his all time faves.

The Rams had developed a relationship with Buffalo's guys talking about the #2 pick, or possibly from last year's Tavon Austin deal, so GM Doug Whaley gave the Rams the pick on the cheap, compared to the cost of other deals that went down.

After the Rams celebrated getting Joyner, Tennessee quickly dealt their pick and moved down, so the Rams guys were right on about who their guy was too. Tennesse saw Kyle Van Noy and Joyner go right from under their noses, which is why sitting on your spot can really end up badly.

Looking at the board I have for tomorrow, I've got at least 15 guys the Rams could really use, again showing how strong this draft is.

There are plenty of good DB, interior O=linemen, and especially QBs left on the board for the Rams, and a couple of linebackers.

Acouple QBs may be too hard for the Rams to pass on in round four, maybe five.

The over under on Snead moving up in round four is around pick 4.

Here is my board for round four for the Rams
    1. T. Savage QB
    2. AJ McCarron QB
    3. P. Desir CB
    4. E, Gaines Cb
    5. T. Smith OLB
    6. D. Bailey S
    7. E. Reynolds S
    8. D. Yankey G
    9. C. Bradford LB
    10. M. Bryant WR
    11. C. Fleming T
    12. C. Richardson G
    13. G. Ikard C
    14. J. Hurst T
    15. K. McGill CB
    16. B. Ellington WR
    17. M. Roberson CB
    18. A. Murray QB
    19. L. Thomas QB
    20. S. Skov LB
    21. A. Richardson T
    22. L. Duverne-Tardif OL
    23. C. Jones LB
    24. D. Dozier OL
    25. J. Tripp LB
    26. G. Stork C

Barry, curious what you thought of Martin, the USC guard/center that the whiners grabbed at #70. That was the guy i was hoping for as round 3 unfolded and he kept slipping. I follow your writings very carefully, and you had him as #8 on your list (you had mason at 13) going into day 2 (i think that was your list related to the Rams). I have no problem with Mason, but again, another big ugly in the trenches, especially with wells not getting any younger, seemed like something they might have been thinking about.

Also, please tell us what you think the pick of Mason means in terms of richardson vs pead vs cunningham. Who do you think is the odd man out.

Wrong. There's a job for both.
