Browns beat writer Luke Chandler believes QB Derek Anderson could be had for "an early Day 2 [draft] selection."
Anderson is more appealing now that the Browns have paid his $5 million roster bonus. With his 2009 salary checking in at just $1.5 million, the Jets may come calling. Accuracy issues aside, Anderson's big arm would play well in the Meadowlands' wind.
Would you guys make a move on him?
Re: Derek Anderson may be had for early Day 2 pick
No thank you he isn't that good and he makes to much
Re: Derek Anderson may be had for early Day 2 pick
His Salary next season is $1.5 million. How exactly is that to much?
I want to say Green and Frerotte were more expensive, and much older. But I can't find a link to back that up.
He has a very strong arm, and isn't the most accurate, however. I think he'd fit in well with us. He's more of a Power Quarterback if that makes sense, he'd give Bulger a run for his money and we'd have a decent backup.

I say bring him in for a look see. It would be nice to have a back-up that doesn't need a wheel chair.
Re: Derek Anderson may be had for early Day 2 pick
hmmm, I don't have anything against DA, but a round 2 pick may be a little too expensive for him from a team that's knee deep in rebuilding mode. I think Rams 2nd round pick is CRITICAL to their rebuilding efforts. Personally, i'd rather Rams get a younger qb with a late round pick and let the Browns keep their sloppy seconds. There's a reason they picked up Brady Quinn!

2nd DAY pick, not round :)
Re: Derek Anderson may be had for early Day 2 pick
I say yes, but I wouldn't give up anything above a 5th for him. He's not worth a 3rd or 4th.
He has proven that he can play well in the league and with a strong OL and running game he would fit in with the youth movement that has been started. Odds are he wont beat out Marc for the #1 spot, but he could be a real threat to the spot and that should keep Marc motivated and working hard.

No to Derek Anderson. Yes to Pat White. He is a perfect fit for us now that Torre is gone. He would be a great back up for Bulger, could be a third receiver and they is no better wild cat player available. As a bonus, he could even return punts for the aging Donte Hall. He would be great.
Re: Derek Anderson may be had for early Day 2 pick
Not a long-term answer, so I'd say no
Re: Derek Anderson may be had for early Day 2 pick
Even the year where he was good he still threw 19 picks.. si I am going to say pass on him. but If it turns out that he is good again I will forget saying this. http://forums.azcardinals.com/images...k-wall-101.gif
Re: Derek Anderson may be had for early Day 2 pick
hELL YEA... HE'S WORTH A 5TH FOR SURE. AND HE WOULD BE OUR STARTER BY WEEK 1.

I agree with you...just as long as you know he won't be a savior, just a solid young mobile QB. I don't know what the Chief's would be asking for him though. They already have Cassell and Croyle (who was their QB of the future just 7 months ago) so I doubt it would be too high.
