Are you suggesting McDaniels sort of bullied Curl into retirement to get his own guy in there? I would seriously doubt the OC gets to pick position coaches and the HC just has to hope he picks guys that he likes. It may be more common for HC to delegate position coach authority to the OC, but I would be shocked if the HC didn't have the final say, or couldn't make the hire themselves.

My guess is, Curl was just done. He wanted to retire, and if he was going to do it, he did it at the right time instead of waiting all off-season then making the Rams scramble for one when they were all gone.

Guys he retired because he has already coached the best QB he will ever coach . So he decided to let someone else have fun.

Reportedly Dick Curl decided to retire because Sam Bradford started coaching HIM new things.

In all seriousness, Curl did a good job with Bradford.

And as others said, bringing receivers in with better size may be bumped up a notch in the priority list.

As i have previosly stated i think the Rams will pick up a big name wr. Fa leaving them to help the defense once again. I think a strong athletic olb or pass rush de is a big Need 1st round or go for Mike pouncey OG and put him St right guard For the next few years.

No, I'm suggesting that Curl may have stayed for another year or two under Shurmur but, when McDaniels (who clearly will want to work very closely with Bradford) was hired, decided that now was a good time to retire.

Maybe Curl and McDaniel have differences in offensive philosophy.

    Go Rams!

If you remember Eddie Royal was hardly used his rookie year, than Josh McDaniels changed his sets to get him involved. I think Royal and Avery can be used the same way. I think McDaniels is very good at adapting his game-plan to his personnel. Hopefully we get everyone into camp early so he can take a look at all the young guys we have.
