Doomsday Draft Scenario......whacha gonna do?
There's 12 picks in front of us. I think it's fair to assume that 5 of those are going to be the big O players.....Russell, Quinn, Peterson, Johnson, & Thomas. That leaves 7 picks to go, and let's say the nightmare situation arises that all 7 are defenders. Specifically:
-Okoye
-Branch
-Carriker
-Adams
-Willis
-Anderson
-Landry
Who do you take with the 13 pick? (And there's no trade partner that wants it, so you have to make the pick.)
"Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Doomsday Draft Scenario......whacha gonna do?
well for the sake of the thread.....i`ll pretend that i dont think levi brown & leon hall will be taken before at least 2 of the above mentioned 12...
so i`ll go leon hall......or as a long shot pick, drum role.......brian leonard,am i the only one whose actually thinkin of the possibilities of having jackson & leonard on the field at the same time as part of a two pronged running game ? i know 13th is a lil high for leonard but ya know gotta pretend we cant trade down and stuff......

Re: Doomsday Draft Scenario......whacha gonna do?
Well, I picked Moss, only because with his frame he could stand to gain as much as 15lbs to 20lbs.He would probably be the next Leonard Little. I almost said Ginn, or Revis because they are both double threat players, but ultimately it came down to DEFENSE!!!

Re: Doomsday Draft Scenario......whacha gonna do?
Darrelle Revis, arguably just as good or better as Leon Hall and has ability at Punt Returner.:
- Offensive Tackle depth can come letter in the draft, a First Round OL or any position is drafted to start his rookie season or the year after and Pace has some years left in him to dominate.Levi Brown, OT, Penn St.
- Weakside Linebacker, we need a Strongside Linebacker and #13 is too high for him.Jon Beason, OLB, Miami
- Strongside Linebacker but #13 would be a reach, rather look for him in a trade down situation or pickup Stewart Bradley who has more experience at SAM in Round 2.Lawrence Timmons, OLB, Florida St.
- Great Running Back but we're not drafting a Running Back to have him be the feature back, and thats what your looking for in Round 1.Marshawn Lynch, RB, Cal
- Great Player but wouldn't make as big of impact as Revis would.Reggie Nelson, S, Florida
- Great Player but doesn't provide the returner that we need, and Revis is just as good.Leon Hall, CB, Michigan
- Plays Weakside Linebacker and we're looking for Strongside Linebacker.Paul Posluzny, OLB, Penn St.
- Great Returner but why sign Bennett to that contract and then draft a Wide Receiver in Round 1? Returners can be found later in the draft, Revis also supplies returning and plays a position of need.Ted Ginn, WR, Ohio St.
- Would be a reach for him and is an undersized Defensive End who would translate to a 3-4 Outside Linebacker, but I haven't seen many if any glimpses of a 3-4 during last season?Jarvis Moss, DE, Florida
- Again OT isn't that big of a need, and can find depth later in the draft. Wait until next draft before we start drafting OTs to overtake Pace.Joe Staley, OT, Central Michigan
- Love this guy but with that injury last season and recent injuries would be a reach and if we drafted him would have rather traded down to acquire him. Plus, if we get Jenkins what would he do for us?Justin Harrell, DT, TennesseeRamsFan16

Re: Doomsday Draft Scenario......whacha gonna do?
Would go with Revis, he would give us a very good tandem at CB with Tye Hill for many years to come and be able to step in and improve the return game instantly..

Re: Doomsday Draft Scenario......whacha gonna do?
I went with Hall. It;s hard to separate him and Revis, but i think we can find a fine KR a bit later. I love Hall's upside.
The saddest part is, Hub, that there is a very legitimate possibility this could indeed happen.

Re: Doomsday Draft Scenario......whacha gonna do?
I went with Posluszny, though Harrell was close.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Doomsday Draft Scenario......whacha gonna do?
i would have to go with Harrell. I know that it would be a stretch but I think that our need at defensive tackle is our biggest problem followed by the SAM position. I think that there are better suited SAm lb's later on in the draft. So that just leaves us with harrell.

Re: Doomsday Draft Scenario......whacha gonna do?
That is a nightmare I went with Darrelle Revis, CB. I think I would have to trade back for most the players on that list.

Re: Doomsday Draft Scenario......whacha gonna do?
Reevis would be my pick. Solid corner plus the return skills. I think ramsfan16's analysis on this issue is outstanding.

Re: Doomsday Draft Scenario......whacha gonna do?
I chose Hall. He really is a phenomenal corner. Don Banks also chose him as the Rams 1st rounder
here are some clips of him if you haven't seen:

Re: Doomsday Draft Scenario......whacha gonna do?
I'd probably go with Revis. He's just as good as Hall but has the ability on Special Teams.

Re: Doomsday Draft Scenario......whacha gonna do?
I am really not that familiar with all the studs. But I have seen Jarvis play in person and all I can say is what a "TOTAL STUD!" and besides he is from the SEC and they have the most talent of any conference so I think they are a bit more prepared for NFL situations.
Size will not matter with this animal. If he a'int from the SEC he a'int worth a look
sorta of kidding
