Draft Curry!!! Draft Curry!! Draft Curry!!
If you can't tell, I think the Rams should draft Aaron Curry in the 1st round.

Then they could pick up an OT in the 2nd round.
Anyone else feeling this?

Not really. I've said before we should get the best skill player in the draft round 1, OL in round 2, and linebacker round 3. Ideally it would have gone as Crabtree round 1, OT/C whoever falls at round 2, and Marcus Freeman round 3, but it looks like Freeman will definitely get drafted in the 2nd round now.

Re: Draft Curry!!! Draft Curry!! Draft Curry!!
I like Curry alot. Trust me, he's going to be a beast.
However, we can still get a legitimate LB in the second or third round.
The way I see it...
1) Monroe
2) C/SS/MLB
3) C/SS/MLB
4) C/SS/MLB[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!

Re: Draft Curry!!! Draft Curry!! Draft Curry!!
monroe= 22 reps if 225lbs at a bodyweight of 300+. Curry, while not off the charts, does 25 reps at weight of 247. That shows work ethic. Any 300 lb person should be putting up 20 reps of 225 without ever training. If we did take an Olineman-- Baylors Smith is the person to take. However, because this draft has many Olineman, we need to take a different position. There is no Jake Long, Stan Thomas, or Dbrickashaw Fergason in this draft. The best athletes are either Curry or Crabtree, then look for Oline in rd 2.

Re: Draft Curry!!! Draft Curry!! Draft Curry!!
I'm sorry but I beg to differ. With all due respect, have you ever tried to bench 225? After lifting for 4 years during high school, my bench max was 270. Thats equal to only about 3 or 4 225 reps. Granted I was only 230 lbs, far cry from 300, but if your telling me that a guy who weighs 300 lbs should automatically be able to throw up 20 reps, then I have to disagree. Weight does not equal strength, and heck, repping out 225 doesn't necessarily mean strength. It's more of a muscle endurance test than anything.
And don't put so much stock into weight room numbers, thats not where the game is played. Billy D is going to be watching the tapes to evaluate the players, and as long as the o linemen don't have a horrible press ie 10 reps, then i doubt it is going to affect our selection as much as you believe.

Re: Draft Curry!!! Draft Curry!! Draft Curry!!
And did you ever think that Monroe maybe had a bad day? Let's see how many he throws up on Virginia's pro day and then evaluate. Yes, the bench press is an important measurement between linemen, but that doesn't mean that one guy's numbers on one day is the end all be all. Like I said, he could have had a bad day and might have a good one at his Pro Day, you never know. And no, being 300 lbs does not make you a weight lifter, sorry.
That said, I am much more open to Curry in the 1st round after the combine and hearing how much he likes Chris Long and the Rams(of course he's campaigning for more cash), and as long as we get Curry, Monroe or Jason Smith, I'll be happy. Good thing we're at #2 and we'll have a choice between two of them at least!Last edited by TekeRam; -02-26-2009 at 10:30 AM.

Re: Draft Curry!!! Draft Curry!! Draft Curry!!
Exactly.....!!!
I am some what of a gym rat. I do a solid hour of lifting 4 days a week. I observe men of every shape and size that can and can't do the 225 lb thing.
As an example I work out with a guy (35 years old) on Saturday mornings that is probably 5'9"- 205 lbs. I actually challenged him on the 225 lb bench press last year.
My challenge came from hearing that Jake Long had done 37 reps at the combine last year. (This is the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth)
My guy did it 40 times and could have kept going. He also happens to be a personal trainer.
Believe me there are alot of BIG guys at the gym and I guarantee that most of them would struggle to do 225 lbs ten times. The point is that it's all in what you train for.

Re: Draft Curry!!! Draft Curry!! Draft Curry!!
I want Curry real bad...I know alot of people want the OL fixed, but it was gonna happen last year until the Dolphins chose Jake and we went with Chris who has tons of potential..
I agree, the OL needs alot of work, but we could possibly be looking at a very intriguing Defense here...Long, Carriker, Bartell, Atogwe, Little, fa SS, Curry etc...

Re: Draft Curry!!! Draft Curry!! Draft Curry!!
I'm starting to come on board to this idea as well...
I think we can grab Curry and he'll give us a firey playmaker to bring some much needed attitude, I'm gonna hit you in the mouth to our defense.
Then, grab a OT in the second, or even (depending on how much Andre Smith's stock drops), pull a trade to move back into the first and take him.
This could be a scary team in a few years, possibly built like the Ravens... strong running team with a great D.

I'm easily aboard the Curry train. Build the " D " and the " O " will come.
