It doesn't take constant pounding to injure a QB. It can take one freakish accident to injure a QB.
So we had 4 freak accidents? Better hire a Shaman.

Although the 44 total sacks given up over the season doesn't bode well for the line.

well bulger got injured because he held the ball all day and showed no ability to run or maneuver in the pocket (sack totals for him this year was the lowest of his career). Kyle Boller was injured because our entire line minus jason brown and bell were different from the start of the year..

And Null and Bulger's 2nd injury are because of....?

Contrary to any sort of groupthink that may be percolating elsewhere, the Rams' line is not good. It is mediocre at best.

Did any other NFL teams sustain 4 injuries at the QB position? Not all of these injuries can be attributed to "weak bodies".

First, Bulger was never a durable guy, ala Ben Roethlisberger.

Second, when Kyle Boller was in, our line was going through changes and Kyle Boller does NOT know how to get rid of the football. He keeps it in his hand and he gets sacked way too easily.

By the time Null came around, 3 of our orginal starters were out, one was injured, and one was a mediocre at best blocker (Barron).

If Jason Smith, Jacob Bell, Jason Brown, and Richie Incognito were all there at the end of the season, Null probably would have had better productivity.

Richie protect the quarterback? That's rich. Our pass protection is better off without him.

More importantly, if we're cracking on QB durability, lineman durability isn't anything to right home about either for these guys. The only Rams lineman who makes any sort of habit of not getting hurt is Barron and he compensates by not doing his job. Good linemen don't get habitually hurt.

I have to disagree. While the 44 sacks allowed are a marked improvement on previous seasons and the run blocking as a whole was much more cohesive, you can't say that Bulger et. al. didn't take several beatings. Bulger has to be rattled enough from previous seasons of play when the line gave up as many as 55 sacks, from memory.

Our line was not bad all year. Our line could still stand to get a whole lot better, especially in pass protection. Moving Smith to the left side to protect the QB's blindside, as well as finding a suitable combination to the right of Jason Brown will go a long way toward improving this. Goldberg is a valuable swingman but he's not a long-term solution in my eyes. He'll do as a right guard for this season but not all that much longer.
