    A Draft Game

This is a pre-programmed draft game that you can play multiple times (First-Pick.com). It allows too many trades down, but it interesting. Sorry if this violates the no-link rule, but wasn't sure how else to really pass this along. This was my most recent draft (I kept trading down), as an example of what you see:

Your score is: 4911 (Drafting Ability: B, Player Quality A, Future Draft Picks: B+)

    Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 11 (TENN): Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA (A)
Round 1 Pick 15 (PITT): Hasean Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama (A)
Round 1 Pick 26 (CLE): Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State (A)
Round 2 Pick 12: Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh (A)
Round 2 Pick 14 (PITT): Cyril Richardson, OG, Baylor (B-)
Round 3 Pick 11: Devonta Freeman, RB, Florida State (B+)
    Round 4 Pick 10: A.J. McCarron, QB, Alabama (A)
Round 5 Pick 13: Charles Leno, OT, Boise State (B+)
Round 6 Pick 12: Brandon Coleman, WR, Rutgers (A)
Round 7 Pick 11: Kerry Hyder, DE, Texas Tech (C+)
Round 7 Pick 26: John Urschel, OG, Penn State (C-)

    Your Future Picks:
    2015 Round 1 Pick
    2015 Round 1 Pick (TENN)
    2016 Round 1 Pick

I don't think Gilbert, Donald, or Mccarron will be available as low as they were when you picked them.

Yeah, I wouldn't characterize it as realistic. If you restrain yourself, its a little better. Still…fun.

I've been playing this for a couple of weeks. I agree, sometimes their rankings yield to some unrealistic drafts, but it's still pretty fun. My personal high score is 4237.

    Re: A Draft Game

I've been playing this, but it's hard to really get into it with little niche players that the computer under values (see first mock). I also was able to successfully turn #2 and #13 in about 15 second rounders and another 10-15 3rd rounders....just, because I could.

Here's my first draft before I started to really limit trades to realistic ones:

Your score is: 4577 (Drafting Ability: B-, Player Quality A, Future Draft Picks: N/A)
Round 1 Pick 5 (OAK): Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn (A)
    Round 1 Pick 13: Hasean Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama (A)
Round 2 Pick 4 (OAK): Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh (A) [Top 20 talent]
Round 2 Pick 12: Gabe Jackson, OG, Mississippi State (A-) [Likely to be gone here]
Round 3 Pick 3 (OAK): Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt (A) [Won't get out of the second round]
    Round 3 Pick 11: A.J. McCarron, QB, Alabama (B)
Round 4 Pick 7 (OAK): Weston Richburg, C, Colorado State (A)
Round 4 Pick 10: Jaylen Watkins, CB, Florida (B+)
Round 5 Pick 13: Kevin Pierre-Louis, OLB, Boston College (B)
    Round 6 Pick 12: De'Anthony Thomas, RB, Oregon (D+)
Round 7 Pick 11: Aaron Lynch, DE, South Florida (B+)
Round 7 Pick 26: Andre Hal, CB, Vanderbilt (B+)

    Here's another without trades:

Round 1 Pick 2: Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn (A)
Round 1 Pick 13: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M (A)
Round 2 Pick 12: Ed Reynolds, FS, Stanford (A-)
    Round 3 Pick 11: Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB, Nebraska (B+)
Round 4 Pick 10: Anthony Steen, OG, Alabama (B)
Round 5 Pick 13: Charles Sims, RB, West Virginia (A)
Round 6 Pick 12: David Fales, QB, San Jose State (A)
Round 7 Pick 11: Jay Bromley, DT, Syracuse (C)
Round 7 Pick 26: Spencer Long, OG, Nebraska (C-)

McCaron's draft stock plummeted after the Sugar Bowl. Scouts had concerns about him for a while, but he was really exposed when OU brought the pressure. He could potentially not even be one of the first 10 QBs drafted.

I think the local hospital ER would be filled on draft day from over-zealous Rams fans trying to do back flips with this resullt!!! Only thing I see that might change is Barr, if HAHA, or Calvin was still around according to this I get one of them instead, OR Aaron Donald. Other than that, fantasyland or not WOOHOO :-)

I am curious myself as to how that was pulled off. Have to ask Rawr.

    Re: A Draft Game

I can't remember exactly, but it wasn't realistic. I traded down 2 or 3 times just to get down to 8, and had stockpiled quite a few 2nd and 3rd rounders. I think I'd gotten both of Cleveland's first rounders, so I packaged the second one along with some of my 2nd, 3rd, and 4ths to move up to 12 when I saw Evans and Gilbert were still available. When I saw that Barr was still available at 25, I packaged what I could to move back up into the first round. Adding to the ridiculousness, I didn't use any future first rounders, and still had some 3rd and 4th rounders. I think I was out of 2nd rounders, though.

I tried to see how many points I could get today, and this was my best. Not my favorite draft by any means, though:

Your score is: 5233 (Drafting Ability: B+, Player Quality A, Future Draft Picks: B+)

    Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 12 (NYG): Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn (A)
Round 1 Pick 19 (MIA): Calvin Pryor, FS, Louisville (A-)
Round 2 Pick 11 (NYG): Ryan Shazier, OLB, Ohio State (A-)
Round 2 Pick 12: Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State (A)
Round 2 Pick 18 (MIA): Ra'Shede Hageman, DT, Minnesota (A)
Round 3 Pick 11: Cyril Richardson, OG, Baylor (A)
Round 4 Pick 10: Jared Abbrederis, WR, Wisconsin (A)
Round 5 Pick 13: Andre Williams, RB, Boston College (A)
Round 6 Pick 12: Antone Exum, CB, Virginia Tech (A)
Round 7 Pick 11: Aaron Lynch, DE, South Florida (B+)
Round 7 Pick 26: Cody Hoffman, WR, Brigham Young (B-)

    Your Future Picks:
    2015 Round 1 Pick (NYG)
    2015 Round 1 Pick
    2016 Round 1 Pick

Yeah I like your first one better :-) Pt system seems to be on par logically with the system used on Who's Line Is It Anyway.

    Re: A Draft Game

I'm sort of addicted to that game. Give it a shot just about every day.
Score is irrelevant since it values filling holes more than getting talent.

The trade down scenarios can be pretty entertaining. In real life, I'm not so sure it's out of the question that the Rams trade down with both 1st rounders and get three 2nd round picks.

Here's one of the things that is interesting to me:
Would you trade the #2 pick for Lewan (#3 OT), Yankey (#2 OG) and Weston Richburg (#2 C)?
You could have a completely rebuilt and young offensive line for that #2 pick. Plus still have your normal draft to complete the rebuild of the defense.

    Re: A Draft Game

I see a trade with Cleveland as one of the best case scenarios for the Rams to start out and get their #4 and #26 for our #2.

If that happens we grab the top OL, then Ha-Ha or Pryor and then a CB like Roby at #26. If we can trade back one more we can still get all 3 of these guys plus another 2nd. Then we can go WR and OG in the second and Center in the 3rd. That is how I played around with it. If we don't take FS at #13 we lose a serious impact player there. Don't think taking a FS later is going to do us any good.
