1st Round Mock Draft for the NFL Draft ‘07

Submitted by frank coyle on Fri, 01/26/2007 - 12:00pm. In the Huddle First Round Mock Draft for the NFL Draft ‘07
Before Senior Bowl - late Jan.
y - Super Bowl winner will pick 32nd overall.
x - Final position will be determined by coin flip in March
    * Underclassmen
    1. Oakland - 2-14 - Brady Quinn QB 6-4, 230 Notre Dame
Raiders better get this pick right for once after repeated picks in the top 5.
    2. Detroit - 3-13 - * JaMarcus Russell QB 6-6, 255 LSU
Lions have to built around behind a potential star at QB after endless problems at the position.
    x - 3. Cleveland - 4-12 - Joe Thomas OT 6-7, 310 Wisconsin
Browns have never protected their passer since starting expansion club with QB Tim Couch.
    x - 4. Tampa Bay - 4-12 - * Calvin Johnson WR 6-4, 235 Georgia Tech
Bucs love this playmaker and he is a perfect fit for their offense.
    5. Arizona - 5-11 - Gaines Adams DE 6-4, 265 Clemson
Cardinals are always in the top 10 picks and DL is always a problem area.
    6. Washington - 5-11 - * Jamaal Anderson DE 6-6, 255 Arkansas
Redskins defense is overrated and a premier pass rusher is a high priority.
    7. Minnesota - 6-10 * Adrian Peterson RB 6-1, 220 Oklahoma
Vikings should get a chance at a blue chip prospect here.
    8. Houston - 6-10 - * Ted Ginn WR 6-0, 180 Ohio St
Texans offense would love this playmaker and return specialist.
    9. Miami - 6-10 - * Dwayne Jarrett WR 6-5, 210 USC
Dolphins passing game needs an impact player and Jarrett can get it done.
    10. Atlanta - 7-9 - LaRon Landry FS 6-2, 205 LSU
Falcons defense failed again in big game situations.
    11. San Francisco - 7-9 - * Sidney Rice WR 6-1, 190 South Carolina
***** receiving corps is one of the weakest in the NFL.
    12. Buffalo - 7-9 - Leon Hall CB 5-11,195 Michigan
Bills could lose their top corner Nate Clements in free agency.
    13. St. Louis - 8-8 - * Alan Branch DT 6-5, 330 Michigan
Rams have to go back to DT despite several top picks at this position in recent drafts.
    14. Carolina - 8-8 - Quinn Pitcock DT 6-2, 295 Ohio St
Panthers look to their injury prone interior along their talented front four.
    15. Pittsburgh - 8-8 - LaMarr Woodley DE 6-2, 270 Michigan
Steelers showing age on the perimeter and Woodley is a force off the edge.
    16. Green Bay - 8-8 - Quentin Moses DE 6-5, 250 Georgia
Packers defense needs a stud pass rusher and Moses has the package to be an impact defender.
    17. Jacksonville - 8-8 - Michael Griffin FS 6-0, 200 Texas
Jaguars are looking for impact defender in secondary and Griffin fills the bill.
    18. Cincinnati - 8-8 - * Greg Olsen TE 6-5. 255 Miami
Bengals looking to give QB Carson Palmer another weapon for the middle seam.
    19. Tennessee - 8-8 - Paul Poluszny LB 6-1, 235 Penn St
Titans defense looking to add a playmaker.
    20. N. Y. Giants - 8-8 - * Marshawn Lynch RB 5-10, 220 California
G-Men must replace Tiki Barber or offense will stall.
    21. Denver - 9-7 - * Darrelle Revis CB 5-11,190 Pittsburgh
Broncos will probably address corner after Darrent Williams tragedy.
    22. Dallas - 9-7 - Justin Blalock OG 6-4, 330 Texas
Boys must block for wonder boy Tony Romo after late season protection problems.
    23. Kansas City - 9-7 - * Charles Johnson DE 6-2, 275 Georgia
Chiefs are always trying to put out the fire on defense.
    24. New Eng (Seat) - 9-7 - * Reggie Nelson DB 6-1, 190 Florida
Patriots secondary expects offseason losses, in addition to aging issues.
    25. New York Jets - 10-6 - * Zach Miller TE 6-5, 260 Arizona St
Jets won’t pass on this Miller after failing to draft Heath Miller two years ago.
    26. Philadelphia - 10-6 - Adam Carriker DE 6-5, 280 Nebraska
Eagles are looking to get bigger along their front four.
    27. New Orleans - 10-6 - Aaron Ross CB 6-0, 195 Texas
Saints are problems on the corner and will look to address this area early in the draft.
    28. New England - 12-4 -.Daymeion Hughes CB 6-2, 190 California
Patriots are expected to address the secondary early and often with possibly their two #1 picks this April.
    29. Baltimore - 13-3 - * Lawrence Timmons LB 6-3, 230 Florida St.
Ravens are looking for impact on either side of the ball.
    30. San Diego - 14-2 - * Brandon Siler LB 6-1, 235 Florida
Chargers continue to build a top defense.
    y - 31. Chicago - 13-3 - Tank Tyler DT 6-2, 320 North Carolina St
Bears front line has bigger problems than just lack of depth at this position.
    y - 32. Indianapolis - 12-4 - Patrick Willis LB 6-2, 230 Mississippi
Colts need run stuffers and Willis is one of the best.

That's what I thought. I'm curious to hear from the resident draft gurus to see if they think it could happen.

Alan Branch at #13 would be a miracle, but he will not fall down there unless his scouting combine report is bad

Based on their projection, I'm not sure. They have four receivers going top 11, which is very unlikely. They also have Pitcock, Woodley, and Moses waaaaaaay too high based on everything I've seen about their stocks. Two tight ends in the first round is unlikely (I'm not even sure one goes in the first round). It's a very strange projection.

I didn't give it much credence either. But, it did support a very desirable outcome for us. Just think positive...happy thoughts!! You never know!!!
