Draft Watch after Justin Blackmon
For the most part most of clanram wants Justin Blackmon but there is a problem we are winning games and other teams are not as of now we have 2 wins but so do the dolphins, vikings, panthers and there are 5 teams with 3 wins so we are not guaranteed a top 5 draft pick to get Blackmon
Hypothetically speaking we have the #5 pick...Luck, Landry jones, blackmon, Khalil are all off the board what do we do (except trade)
Go BPA and take Trent Richardson for an amazing backfield punch?
Reach for the next best WR: Alson Jeffery or Michael Floyd?
Go conservative (aka go spags): Take another O-lineman high
Address biggest need at LB: take a MLB like Te'o or Burfict and put him at OLB
Go for a Defensive playmaker at corner: Morris Claiborne doesnt have reevis cover skills but is a playmaker...or Jaronis Jenkins type probably the best cover corner in the draft
Where would u go if we were drafting high and Blackmon is off the board?

If we're picking 5th, we probably still get Blackmon. Depending on who the hypothetical 4 teams ahead of us are, those picks are probably the 3 QBs (Luck, Barkley, Jones) and Kalil. So that being the case, take Blackmon.
But for arguments sake, let's say Blackmon isn't there at #5. Take Kalil or Jon Martin. Or maybe Morris Claiborne (I personally think Bartell retires).
Re: Draft Watch after Justin Blackmon
If Blackmon is gone, then I'd either go with Dre' Kirkpatrick, Morris Claiborne, or Alamada Ta'amu.
Re: Draft Watch after Justin Blackmon
I think the Rams need to go with a modified BPA approach.
First, there are several positions that should be "off the table" for the first pick. They are:
QB, DE, MLB: We're set with what we have.
FB, OG, C, TE, S: Rarely, if ever, worth a Top 10 pick
That leaves the following positions to consider: RB, WR, OT, DT, OLB, CB
The Rams' primary strategy should be BPA. However, if its close, I'd probably rank the six spots as follows in terms of need/expected dropoff in later rounds (which would be the tiebreaker):
1. WR
2. CB
3. DT
4. OT
5. RB
6. OLB
Pursuant to this formula, Justin Blackmon is my top pick, as he has an elite rating in my book, and is at the top of the need/priority list.
After that, I'd say the BPA could very well be Trent Richardson.
Re: Draft Watch after Justin Blackmon
I still say we take a wr. Richardson would be intruiging, but Jax still can play like a beast and should be able to for another year i think(barring injuries ofc).
I wouldnt mind taking a CB but only if Bartell isnt coming back. If we have Bartell, Fletcher and the rest of the gang i think our secondary is pretty solid.
Id wait till 2nd round or later to get a Cent and Gaurd.
Are there any OLB or DT worthy of the 5th overall?
to me itd come down to Jeffery, Richardson and Claiborne(if hes still the top cb at that point)
with Jeffery having the upper hand.
Re: Draft Watch after Justin Blackmon
At #5, it would have to be Richardson. We need fast people that can make plays, and he fits the bill. He will be Jackson's successor and he will have a great career.
If Richardson is gone, then I'd go with Jeffery or Kirkpatrick.
Re: Draft Watch after Justin Blackmon
That would be great because tons of team would want MATT BARKLEY.....Barkley and Luck and both going in top 6 picks because of the need of QBs by bad teams....
Miami, Cleveland, both have elite LT and need QBs I doubt Luck and Barkley pass these too.....Rams are lucky they don't need a QB soo they need to stockpile athletes and play-makers...
Re: Draft Watch after Justin Blackmon
Claiborne is gaining ground on Kirkpatrick but I think he will end up going back to school anyways. Heres how I'd rank it by needs and by who fits the spot. Dont forget, this is who I'd take from that position at the #5 pick in order of most needed position.
1. WR -> Justin Blackmon
2. CB -> Morris Claiborne, Dre' Kirkpatrick
3. DT -> Alameda Ta'amu
4. OT -> Matt Kalil, Jonathon Martin
Now hypothetically if we're drafting at #15 I'd make it look like this:
1. WR -> Michael Floyd, Alshon Jeffery
2. OLB -> Zach Brown, Vontaze Burfict
3. CB -> Stephon Gilmore, Chase Minnifield
4. RB -> Trent Richardson
These are my grades.
Re: Draft Watch after Justin Blackmon
Am i the only one wanting Jaronis Jenkins? He is the best pure cover corner...right now spags is our coach n until he is not this draft should be about his philosophy and with our blitzing and pass rush we need guys that can cover.
If spags is still the head coach i dont think he will be worrying about s-Jax successor he will be worry about the rams not finding his successor so i dont know about trent richardson

Jenkins is an idiot. He's a great football player but off the field he's had a lot of issues. If we could grab him in the later rounds I'd be all for it. Also he doesn't fit Spags system. Hes too small and doesn't press.
Re: Draft Watch after Justin Blackmon
Why no love for Jeffery? The guys is an athletic freak, yeah its a rough year for him, but he has zero talent around him so D's just have to shut him down. I can see him being a climber in the offseason ala Julio Jones
