Eagles Release DE Jason Babin

Stunner: Eagles cut Jason Babin - NFL Nation Blog - ESPN

Do you think he is worth picking up for depth? It seems that they had a young guy who was rising and Babin probably needed a change of scenery.

Fisher could probably get his mindset back on track.

Whoever picks him up will owe him 1.6 mil for the rest of the year.

Thoughts?

Well, no-one was rising, but Babin is a wide-9 DE, huge liability in the run, was owed some BIG money next year, and the Eagles will have a different defensive scheme next season (no more wide 9's). Plus why not give guys like Brandon Graham, Vinny Curry, Phillip Hunt, and Darryl Tapp more playing time? They deserved it.

I say no because he does not fit our scheme.

Old and looks to be slowing down. This is not the type of acquisition rebuilding teams should think about making, IMO.

I feel the same. He is better suited at this point for a team needing 'one more piece' to their line for a deep playoff push.

nope, we already have a younger version of him in Robert Quinn. Seriously the pass rush is one of our least big worries. If he was a great run stopping DE it would be one thing but we already have two DE's who are better than him.
