Early Draft Projections Can Suffer From "The Butterfly Effect"
When projecting who the Rams might target in the draft, we do so based upon the current roster. However, this offseason will be a long journey to the draft, and each move (or non-move) made between the end of the season and draft day will have a chain reaction impact on who the Rams ultimately select.
The first issue will be dealing with our own FAs. Will Steven Jackson stay? Will the Rams re-sign Danny Amendola? What about the depth FAs (Robert Turner, William Hayes, Bradley Fletcher, Brandon Gibson). And, finally... will the Rams part ways with any vets? (Quintin Mikell?) All of these decisions will impact the Rams list of needs.
Next comes the UFA period. The Rams should have some money to spend in the market. Will they go for a premiere WR... or an OT... or a safety? I'd like to see at least one starting spot in need of improvement receive a FA upgrade, but sometimes its easier said than done.
This will be a very interesting offseason.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!
