Thank goodness. I'm very happy this didn't get done for us. The next best guy will end up being better, I swear.

The draft. Many on this site and draft experts seem to think O linemen are plentiful.

It make sense to me that if the Rams are willing to let Bruce go, then they would be less inclined to sign aging FA linemen to high salary contracts. Lets get young. It may mean that it will be 2-3 years before we are a force again, but I would rather take my chances on rookies than over-priced FAs . Bennett comes to mind most recently.

Re: ESPN: Faneca to Jets a done deal

It was mentioned on ESPNews Friday that Alan Faneca has agreed to a four-year contract with the Jets.

ESPN's John Clayton said no deal is official yet, and we're not hearing that one is. Faneca's deal is expected to average $8 million annually. It's believed he'll take the weekend to decide between the Jets and Rams' offers.

    Apparently nothing's official yet..?

Alan Faneca's agent denies that his client as signed with the Jets.

"False report. It's a false report," agent Rick Smith said. ESPN's website reported the two sides agreed to a four-year, $32 million contract. It appears Faneca is still weighing offers. He could easily wind up with the Jets, but there's no deal yet.

if he is still in fact deciding that means we had to offer around 8 million per season, thats crazy,I want a top notch o-lineman also, but not at that price,I would rather wait for the draft,if we are going younger than that price makes no sense to me.go younger and cheaper.

What looks good about this is the Rams are looking and willing to spend big money on a great player. Now that Fanneca is possibly gone I expect us to sign Jacob Bell or Jake Scott

Just to update, the deal is a five-year, $40 million contract that includes $21 million in guarantees. It makes him the highest paid offensive linemen in the league.

    Also, according to Bernie...

No. 3, I maintained that they'd make a serious run at Faneca. They tried to. He wasn't interested.
