ESPN980: Redskins "very interested" in QB Flynn
This is a snipppet from a long blog post by Chris Russell, who serves as a Washington Redskins Insider for ESPN-980 and is a game-day correspondent for the Redskins Radio Network.
I know this for sure -- on the night home from Philadelphia a little over two weeks ago - Offensive Coordinator Kyle Shanahan and his father, Mike, had a detailed conversation over Flynn's performance against the Lions.
They were very impressed and pleased to see the results, despite not being able to witness the work. I am told that they have had other conversations about Flynn, and it would appear based on a few sources inside the organization that the Redskins are 'very interested' as one source described to me.
Of course, we shall see when 'rubber meets the road' and it comes down to contract time. I think the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos and a few other teams could be in the mix.

He's going to cash in big time on the open-market. Especially if Washington is the team to sign him.

Re: ESPN980: Redskins "very interested" in QB Flynn
I think this is more a testament to how sparse the QB talent will be in Free Agency. Brees will be tagged or signed, which really leaves only Flynn and the Draft. The draft only has two blue-chip prospects, and there are more than 3 teams that need QB's. Flynn hasn't played a whole season (like Cassel when Brady got hurt), so his sample size is significantly smaller. I'm not saying he'll be bad, but I think that this Flynn talk is due to the lack of competing talent.

Re: ESPN980: Redskins "very interested" in QB Flynn
Or how bout Kevin Kolb 2.0???Like seriously not doubting he might be good but he hasnt played and people are talking about him getting a nice starting QB contract with only 1 NFL start under his belt??Lets not forget he did play with the packers...that offense is loaded the game vs the lions while he made great plays the WR also did help him.If he were to go to lets say the Redskins they would be foolish to expect that kind of production. Not to mention when you know your behind Aaron Rodgers and you finally get a chance you play with no restrictions you let everything hang. But when you are the designated starter "that" fire isnt there because you have to think of the future so that 1 game isnt as important.

With Joe Philbin the new HC of the Dolphins, i could see him pushing for Flynn and getting him. Thatd leave the skins still in dire need of a QB.

Re: ESPN980: Redskins "very interested" in QB Flynn
Here are all the teams that I could see trying to get Flynn: Seahawks, Redskins, Dallas(if they truly are afraid to put the ball in Romo's hands), Dolphins, Jets, Cleveland, Jaguars, Colts, Raiders. That's 9 teams. Now, not all would go hard after him, but five probably would. No matter who gets him, our pick is still going to be quite valuable for someone wanting Luck or RG3.
I believe!
