    Re: Eugene Monroe or Jason Smith?

    after starting the Lady Legs nickname i just cant go with Smith now...

    i prefer Monroe anyway...played in a more Pro orientated system in UV for a team that obviously has good O-line coaches just by looking at the number of O-linemen who have in recent years made it in the Pro`s..or atleast been solid Pro players...he hasnt got to change from a 2 point stance in the Pro`s unlike Lady legs!
    the fact that a lot of peeps seem to have an "any tackle will do" attitude scares me somewhat...i hope the Rams Draft crew isnt so blinkered in their view and look at WHO we need rather than WHAT we need.

    While I agree that Smith played in a tougher conference, I don't know that the difference is so great as to draw a separation between he and Monroe.

    That's not what I was saying, I really think the ACC had a better defense overall than did the Big 12 as a whole.

    I don't think anybody is arguing that the Big 12 didn't have tough teams, but when you're talking about the competition an individual player faced, you're talking about individual match-ups. Aside from Orakpo--who missed the game against Baylor in 2008--I'm not sure if the defensive ends on those teams would be considered the best in the country. Monroe, on the other hand, faced Michael Johnson (Georgia Tech), Lawrence Sidbury (Richmond), and the USC defense just to name a few.

    It's a flip of a coin for me.

    Heads = Smith
    Tails = Monroe

    .............Tails....Monroe it is.
