A Fair Rams/Bucs Trade Proposal
Here's my suggestion:
(NOTE: "TVC" means "Trade Value Chart")
Rams give Tampa:
First round pick (#1) (TVC: 3,000)
Fourth round pick (#97) (TVC: 112)
TOTAL TVC: 3,112
Bucs give Rams:
First round pick (#3) (TVC: 2,200)
Second round pick (#35) (TVC: 560)
Third round pick (#67) (TVC: 255)
TOTAL TVC: 3,015
From the TVC standpoint, it is a fairly even trade. The Rams would gain one total selection, and would have two of the first three picks in Rounds 2 and 3.
The Bucs would ensure that they can select Ndamukong Suh (the whole notion of a trade is premised on the presumption that the Bucs want him), and they would still have a second round pick (#44) and an extra fourth round pick.
I would make this trade. It would allow the Rams to either (1) take Bradford at No. 3, if they believe he is "their guy," or (2) if Washington were to jump to No. 2 and take Bradford, to take Gerald McCoy, who is a pretty good "consolation prize." In doing so, they would gain an extra second round pick, which would be very valuable in this deep draft, and would also essentially move up from their fourth round pick to an extra early third round pick.
Would you make this trade, and do you think the Bucs would?
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: A Fair Rams/Bucs Trade Proposal
Absolutely. I would love to see the Rams pick Suh, but they are in such desperate need of talent, and this draft is one of the deepest in years. If the Rams were ever going to stock up on high picks, this is the draft for it.
I'm not sure the Bucs do it though. Its a tough spot for them to be in, but they're rebuilding too. I'd like to get the opinion of some Bucs fans.Last edited by AtlantaRamFan; -02-18-2010 at 07:49 PM.

Re: A Fair Rams/Bucs Trade Proposal
No doubt i would do it
But the Bucs share something similar too us. MANY HOLES. They have a good chance to make there roster alot younger and alot better. I dont think they will waste that opportunity just to get a guy who they must give plenty of guaranteed money too.

I think this is one of those times that you wish it was the Raiders or the Redskins who were desperate for a defensive tackle. I think one of those teams might go for it, but I'm not so sure about the Bucs.

Re: A Fair Rams/Bucs Trade Proposal
Hell no. That's a lot of trading that get's us just about nowhere. We don't need depth as much as we need monsters and all stars!
If the Bucs get our #1 spot and take Suh, McCoy probably wont slip by the Lions. So we shot ourselves in the foot and now have to either take a safety or a QB. And we've already been over this before. A QB won't change anything anytime soon.
Wake up and smell the turf.

Re: A Fair Rams/Bucs Trade Proposal
Under any scenario Detroit will be taking a DT, so if you are presuming the Bucs take Suh, good luck with having McCoy fall to three.
I don't see the value of taking either Bradford or Clausen at #3, Suh and McCoy are premium defensive tackles that don't come around all the time, they are no brainers and both qbs are not worth the risk.
Therefore, I think if we want to accumulate more picks, it would be wiser to trade back in the 2nd and 4th (or even 3rd) which might be more likely given the set up of the draft.Last edited by npow81; -02-19-2010 at 12:49 AM.

Re: A Fair Rams/Bucs Trade Proposal
Absolutely.
If one player makes or breaks our draft that much, we're effed anyhow.
Make the trade, 6 picks in essentially the first 3 rounds.
We need buckets of starting material. More than one star; many.

Re: A Fair Rams/Bucs Trade Proposal
And we move a grand total of two picks, and lose a likely depth pick.
Top 3 rounds are where it's at in this one, first 1 3/4's in particular

Re: A Fair Rams/Bucs Trade Proposal
Suh is more than just a player. Its the power he has combined with that particular position that I'm in love with. A monster DT makes the whole defense better. Getting him is like getting a bunch of players. DE's will be better, the LB's will be better, etc, etc...
There is no logical argument against Suh. Like many Rams fans, you're just scared. And there's really no reason to be.

Re: A Fair Rams/Bucs Trade Proposal
To all the people jumping down AV's throat about McCoy not being there at 3 because Detroit would take him. READ WHAT HE SAID
I would make this trade. It would allow the Rams to either (1) take Bradford at No. 3, if they believe he is "their guy," or (2) if Washington were to jump to No. 2 and take Bradford, to take Gerald McCoy
IF WASHINGTON JUMPED TO 2ND (that replaces Detroit with Washington for those that needed it clearly pointed out)

Re: A Fair Rams/Bucs Trade Proposal
I've got a man-crush on Suh, so I admit I can't be objective when I say I'd pass on this trade. I'm sure if I were to take a step back, it would look much sweeter than my tainted eyes are currently seeing.
With that said, IF the Rams feel good about Bradford being a future franchise caller, AND the Rams feel Suh/McCoy are truly 1A/1B, then pull the trigger; it's a can't lose situation."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: A Fair Rams/Bucs Trade Proposal
This would be alright. I would probably be really angry though if this happened and then Washington traded to get the second pick.

Re: A Fair Rams/Bucs Trade Proposal
No question you have to pull the trigger. That extra 2nd round pick makes it an easy decision. Look at the guys that will likely (hopefully) be available at the top of rd 2. Gresham, Weatherspoon, Griffin, a WR like Tate, Benn.. a backup RB like Best. Look at the who we got last year at the top of round 2. Its essentially a 1st round pick because some teams will reach for 2nd round talent in round 1.
