The first pick is becoming more intriguing.
The Chiefs traded for Alex Smith, so I presume they won't be taking a QB with the first pick.
Now, they have decided to franchise Branden Albert, which casts doubt on whether they plan to take Luke Joekel with the first pick.
So...
Who's No. 1?
Dee Milliner?
Sharif Floyd?
Chance Warmack?
Jarvis Jones?
Dion Jordan?
Who's it gonna be?

It's still Joeckel in my mind. Taking Milliner at that spot would be a huge mistake, and Sharrif Floyd is a pass rushing 3 tech, doesn't fit their scheme.

Re: The first pick is becoming more intriguing.
I think Floyd could project as an excellent 3-4 DE.
Overall, I think the Chiefs are doing a horrible job this offseason. They overpaid for Alex Smith, made their punter the highest paid player at his position, and now have tagged Albert despite the fact that they are in a position to draft his replacement, who would be locked up for far less money. I'll also be curious to see how much they are paying Bowe.

Maybe a trade in the works?

Re: The first pick is becoming more intriguing.
Certainly possible, but who would be the target? I suppose if a team really wanted Geno Smith, and was convinced that the Raiders would take him at No. 3, then they could try to make a trade with KC.
I've seen a couple of Tweets from Chiefs fans saying that they should try to entice the Rams to offer their two first round picks (and more) to move up to the top spot. I don't see that happening. There just isn't a clear-cut top player in this year's draft.

Top 4 or 5 is a terrible place to be this year. If they have to stick in that position, I think they still take Joeckel.

Re: The first pick is becoming more intriguing.
I would probably tell Albert that his long-term extension is dependent on him moving inside to guard, with the intention of taking Joeckel first overall. He's not going to like it, but if he doesn't want to do it, ship him for picks.
But yeah, they've kind of confused things a little bit.

Re: The first pick is becoming more intriguing.
The Chiefs have signed cornerback Dunta Robinson, and while I'm not sure if he's talented enough to have a big impact on their need at the position, I do think it makes an already slim chance of them taking Dee Milliner first overall slightly slimmer.
To me, Joeckel remains the front runner. Albert's franchise tag allows the Chiefs to bring Joeckel along slowly, perhaps starting him at RT or LG before shifting him to LT in 2014 while trading away Albert for picks or just letting him walk.
